Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the genetic diversity, structure and admixture of British chicken breeds

TL;DR: The genetic diversity and genetic structure were assessed in 685 individual genotypes sampled from 24 British chicken breeds and it was proposed that gene flow amongst flocks within breeds should be enhanced to maintain the current levels of genetic diversity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Power of different f2 schemes for qtl detection in livestock

TL;DR: Mating animals at the F 1 generation level minimizing relationships was not worse than mating at random or maximizing relationships and the number of parents used affected the power of the experiment when the QTL was segregating in the original crossed lines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimates of heritability and genetic correlation for body length and resistance to fish pasteurellosis in the gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata L.)

TL;DR: Evaluated genetic variation of disease resistance and growth in the gilthead sea bream confirmed the existence of genetic variation for growth and resistance against Phpd and highlight also the potential for selective breeding programs to improve these traits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative trait loci for resistance to fish pasteurellosis in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata).

TL;DR: A QTL analysis for resistance to fish pasteurellosis in this species, an experimental population of 500 offspring subjected to a disease challenge with Photobacterium damselae subsp.
