Identification of epigenome-wide DNA methylation differences between carriers of APOE ε4 and APOE ε2

TL;DR: Evidence is obtained for DNA methylation differences in a ~169kb region, which encompasses part of APOE and several upstream genes, which implicate genes involved in lipid homeostasis and implicated lipid-related processes and high density lipoprotein cholesterol was identified as a partial mediator of the methylation similarities.
Dissertation

The genetical response to natural selection by varied environments.

Chris Haley
TL;DR: In this article, duplicate populations of Drosophila melanogaster were initiated in each of four environments which differed in their degree of environmental heterogeneity, and different combinations of three food media based on oatmeal/treacle, potato or fig were used to simulate the levels of heterogeneity within the populations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Consequences of selection for improving production traits on the frequency of deleterious alleles for fitness.

TL;DR: The main results indicated that alleles that confer susceptibility to the disease could be maintained in the population over a long period, depending on the mode of action of the QTL.
