Journal ArticleDOI
Improving drug solubility for oral delivery using solid dispersions.
TL;DR: The historical background and definitions of the various systems including eutectic mixtures, solid dispersions and solid solutions, as well as the production, the different carriers and the methods used for the characterization of solid dispersion are outlined.
Journal ArticleDOI
FIP/AAPS guidelines to dissolution/in vitro release testing of novel/special dosage forms
Martin Siewert,Jennifer B. Dressman,Cynthia K. Brown,Vinod P. Shah,Jean-Marc Aiache,Nobuo Aoyagi,Dennis Bashaw,Cynthia Brown,William Brown,Diane J. Burgess,John R. Crison,Patrick P. Mueller,Martin Mueller-Zsigmondy,Ngozi Okafo,Larry Ouderkirk,Shravan Parsi,Saeed Qureshi,Joseph R. Robinson,Vinod P. Shah,Ramana S. Uppoor,Roger Williams +37 more
TL;DR: This study presents a meta-analysis of the phytochemical properties of seven novel drugs that have been developed over a period of several years and show promise in terms of protecting against adverse events and promoting drug safety.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dissolution media simulating the intralumenal composition of the small intestine: physiological issues and practical aspects.
Maria Vertzoni,Nikoletta Fotaki,Edmund Kostewicz,Erika Stippler,Christian Leuner,Eleftheria Nicolaides,Jennifer B. Dressman,Christos Reppas +7 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that biorelevant media should contain sodium as the major cation species to better reflect the physiology and it is prudent in relevant situations to run an additional dissolution test in a modified fed state simulated intestinal fluid (FeSSIF) (or fasted state simulated intestine fluid (FaSSIF), where applicable) containing alternative buffer species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of solid dispersions of itraconazole and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose prepared by melt extrusion, Part II.
K. Six,Hugo Berghmans,Christian Leuner,Jennifer B. Dressman,Kristof Van Werde,Jules Mullens,Luc Benoist,Mireille Thimon,Laurent Meublat,Geert Verreck,Jef Peeters,Marcus E. Brewster,Guy Van den Mooter +12 more
TL;DR: Solid dispersions of itraconazole and HPMC do not form a homogeneous phase and the influence of water on the phase separation is found.
