TL;DR: This article performed RNA-seq of whole blood cell transcriptomes and granulocyte preparations from mild and severe COVID-19 patients and analyzed the data using a combination of conventional and data-driven co-expression analysis.

TL;DR: Comparison of COVID-19 blood transcriptomes with those of a collection of over 2,600 samples derived from 11 different viral infections, inflammatory diseases and independent control samples revealed highly specific transcriptome signatures for CO VID-19, which predicted patient subgroup-specific drug candidates targeting the dysregulated systemic immune response of the host.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single-cell RNA sequencing identifies a population of human liver-type ILC1s
Benjamin Krämer,Ansel P. Nalin,Feiyang Ma,Sarah Eickhoff,Philipp Lutz,Sonia Leonardelli,Felix Goeser,C Finnemann,Gudrun Hack,Jan Raabe,Michael ToVinh,Sarah Ahmad,Christoph Hoffmeister,Kim Melanie Kaiser,Steffen Manekeller,Vittorio Branchi,Tobias Bald,Michael Hölzel,Robert Hüneburg,Hans Dieter Nischalke,Alexander Semaan,Bettina Langhans,Dominik J. Mundy-Bosse,Matteo Pellegrini,Timothy Edward O'Sullivan,Aharon G. Freud,Jacob Nattermann +44 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors identify a population of liver-type ILC1s with transcriptional, phenotypic, and functional features distinct from those of conventional and liver-resident NK cells as well as from other previously described human IL1 subsets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to impaired cytokine production of CD56 bright NK cells from HIV(+) individuals under effective antiviral therapy.
Michael ToVinh,Gregor Hörr,Kristiyana Dobrikova,Christina Gotter,Clemens Rommel,Christoph Hoffmeister,Jan Raabe,Kim Melanie Kaiser,C Finnemann,Jenny Bischoff,Gereon Rieke,Christoph Wilhelm,Vanessa Schmitt,Christoph Möhl,Mansoureh Aghabeig,Carolynne Schwarze-Zander,Christoph Boesecke,Kathrin van Bremen,Jan-Christian Wasmuth,Christian P. Strassburg,Jürgen K. Rockstroh,Ulrich Spengler,Benjamin Krämer,Jacob Nattermann +23 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that stimulation of HIV(+) NK cells with MitoTEMPO, mitochondria-targeting antioxidant, significantly improved IFNγ production and identified mitochondrial dysfunction as a mechanism that contributes to impaired NK cell function.
Journal ArticleDOI
HIV-associated microbial translocation may affect cytokine production of CD56bright NK cells via stimulation of monocytes.
Michael ToVinh,Gregor Hörr,Christoph Hoffmeister,Kristiyana Dobrikova,Christina Gotter,Jan Raabe,Kim Melanie Kaiser,Sarah Ahmad,C Finnemann,Eyleen Matejec,Gudrun Hack,Jenny Bischoff,Gereon Rieke,Carolynne Schwarze-Zander,Christoph Boesecke,Kathrin van Bremen,Jan-Christian Wasmuth,Anna Maria Eis-Hübinger,H. Streeck,Hedda Luise Verhasselt,Johannes Oldenburg,Christian P. Strassburg,Jürgen K. Rockstroh,Ulrich Spengler,Benjamin Krämer,Jacob Nattermann +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors observed that HIV infection was associated with increased plasma levels of IFABP, a marker for gut epithelial barrier dysfunction, and LBP (a marker for microbial translocation), suggesting increased microbial translocated to be involved in HIV-associated NK cell dysfunction.
