Journal ArticleDOI

Human Langerhans Cells Express a Specific TLR Profile and Differentially Respond to Viruses and Gram-Positive Bacteria

TL;DR: Human LC are equipped with TLR that enable direct detection of PAMP from viruses and Gram-positive bacteria, subsequent phenotypic maturation, and differential cytokine production, which implies a significant role for LC in the control of skin immune responses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human dendritic cells skew isotype switching of cd40-activated naive b cells towards iga1 and iga2

TL;DR: Results suggest that in addition to activating T cells in the extrafollicular areas of secondary lymphoid organs, human D-Lc also directly modulate T cell–dependent B cell growth and differentiation, by inducing the IgA isotype switch.
Journal Article

Critical role of IL-12 in dendritic cell-induced differentiation of naive B lymphocytes.

TL;DR: IL-12 is identified as the mandatory molecule secreted by CD40-activated DC that promote the differentiation of naive B cells into plasma cells secreting high levels of IgM, demonstrating that the role of DC in humoral responses is not confined to the activation of T cells and extending the physiologic relevance of DC/B cell interaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tumour escape from immune surveillance through dendritic cell inactivation

TL;DR: The current knowledge of the physiopathology of DC in cancer is reviewed, which paves the way for novel strategies of therapeutic intervention.
