CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells inhibit natural killer cell functions in a transforming growth factor–β–dependent manner
François Ghiringhelli,Cédric Ménard,Magali Terme,Caroline Flament,Julien Taieb,Nathalie Chaput,Pierre E. Puig,Sophie Novault,Bernard Escudier,Eric Vivier,A. Lecesne,Caroline Robert,Jean-Yves Blay,Jacky Bernard,Sophie Caillat-Zucman,Antônio C. Freitas,T. Tursz,Orianne Wagner-Ballon,Claude Capron,William Vainchencker,François Martin,Laurence Zitvogel +21 more
TL;DR: A role for T reg cells in blunting the NK cell arm of the innate immune system is supported in controlling innate antitumor immunity through inhibition of NK cell effector functions and down-regulated NKG2D receptors on theNK cell surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Retinoic acid metabolism and mechanism of action: a review.
TL;DR: Therapy of cancer with retinoids is still in its infancy, but the use of new analogues with improved pharmacological properties, along with combination with other drugs, could undoubtedly improve the management of several cancers in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI
HIV-1 reservoirs in urethral macrophages of patients under suppressive antiretroviral therapy.
Yonatan Ganor,Fernando Real,Fernando Real,Fernando Real,Alexis Sennepin,Alexis Sennepin,Alexis Sennepin,Charles-Antoine Dutertre,Lisa Prevedel,Lin Xu,Lin Xu,Lin Xu,Daniela Tudor,Daniela Tudor,Daniela Tudor,Bénédicte Charmeteau,Bénédicte Charmeteau,Bénédicte Charmeteau,Anne Couëdel-Courteille,Anne Couëdel-Courteille,Anne Couëdel-Courteille,Sabrina Marion,Sabrina Marion,Sabrina Marion,Ali Redha Zenak,Ali Redha Zenak,Ali Redha Zenak,Jean Pierre Jourdain,Jean Pierre Jourdain,Jean Pierre Jourdain,Z Zhou,Z Zhou,Z Zhou,Alain Schmitt,Alain Schmitt,Alain Schmitt,Claude Capron,Eliseo A. TL;DR: It is shown, using penile tissues from HIV-1-infected individuals under suppressive combination antiretroviral therapy, that urethral macrophages contain integrated HIV- 1 DNA, RNA, proteins and intact virions in virus-containing compartment-like structures, whereas viral components remain undetectable in urethrals T cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
A mutation of human cytochrome c enhances the intrinsic apoptotic pathway but causes only thrombocytopenia.
Ian M. Morison,Elisabeth Cramer Bordé,Emma J. Cheesman,Pak Leng Cheong,Andrew John Holyoake,Serge Fichelson,Serge Fichelson,Robert J. Weeks,Alexandra Lo,Stefan M K Davies,Sigurd M. Wilbanks,Robert D. Fagerlund,Mathew W Ludgate,Fernanda M. Da Silva Tatley,Melanie S. A. Coker,Nicholas A. Bockett,Gillian Hughes,Diana A Pippig,Mark P Smith,Claude Capron,Elizabeth C. Ledgerwood +20 more
TL;DR: The first identified mutation in the gene encoding human cytochrome c (CYCS) is reported, where Glycine 41, invariant throughout eukaryotes, is substituted by serine in a family with autosomal dominant thrombocytopenia caused by dysregulated platelet formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exposure of human megakaryocytes to high shear rates accelerates platelet production.
Claire Dunois-Lardé,Claire Dunois-Lardé,Claude Capron,Serge Fichelson,Serge Fichelson,Thomas M. Bauer,Elisabeth Cramer-Bordé,Dominique Baruch,Dominique Baruch +8 more
TL;DR: MK exposure to high shear rates promotes platelet production via GPIb, depending on microtubule assembly and elongation, according to microtubules assembly and lengthening in megakaryocytes.
