Supplemental Perioperative Oxygen to Reduce Surgical Site Infection After High-Energy Fracture Surgery (OXYGEN Study).
Robert V OʼToole,Manjari Joshi,Anthony R. Carlini,Robert A. Sikorski,Armagan Dagal,Clinton K. Murray,Michael J. Weaver,Ebrahim Paryavi,Alec Stall,Daniel O. Scharfstein,Julie Agel,Mary Zadnik,Michael J. Bosse,Renan C. Castillo,Metrc +14 more
TL;DR: Assessment of the efficacy of 2 different concentrations of perioperative oxygen in the prevention of SSIs in adults with tibial plateau, pilon (tibial plafond), or calcaneus fractures at higher risk of infection and definitively treated with plate and screw fixation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unrealized potential of the US military battlefield trauma system: DOW rate is higher in Iraq and Afghanistan than in Vietnam, but CFR and KIA rate are lower.
Shawn C. Nessen,Jennifer M. Gurney,Todd E. Rasmussen,Andrew P. Cap,Elizabeth A. Mann-Salinas,Tuan D. Le,Stacy Shackelford,Kyle N. Remick,Kevin S. Akers,Brian J. Eastridge,Donald H. Jenkins,Zsolt T. Stockinger,Clinton K. Murray,Kirby R. Gross,Jason M Seery,Robert L. Mabry,John B. Holcomb +16 more
TL;DR: Level of Evidence Observational/retrospective/historic controls, level IV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation for a Novel Methicillin Resistance (mecC) Homologue in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolates Obtained from Injured Military Personnel
Anuradha Ganesan,Katrina B. Crawford,Katrin Mende,Clinton K. Murray,Bradley A. Lloyd,Michael W. Ellis,David R. Tribble,Amy C. Weintrob,Amy C. Weintrob +8 more
TL;DR: A total of 102 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates collected from 50 injured service members at U.S. military treatment facilities were analyzed for the conventional mecA gene and mecC homologue by using standard PCR-based methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial Prophylaxis with Combat-Related Open Soft-Tissue Injuries.
Bradley A. Lloyd,Clinton K. Murray,Faraz Shaikh,Faraz Shaikh,M. Leigh Carson,M. Leigh Carson,Dana M Blyth,Elizabeth Schnaubelt,Timothy J. Whitman,David R. Tribble +9 more
TL;DR: Use of non-guideline directed EGN-based post-trauma antibiotic prophylaxis does not improve infectious outcomes nor does it shorten hospital stay.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simultaneous identification of multiple β-lactamases in Acinetobacter baumannii in relation to carbapenem and ceftazidime resistance, using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry
H. Trip,Katrin Mende,Joanna A. Majchrzykiewicz-Koehorst,N.J.A. Sedee,Albert G. Hulst,Hugo-Jan Jansen,Clinton K. Murray,Armand Paauw +7 more
TL;DR: Shotgun proteomics using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was applied to detect β-lactamases in clinical Acinetobacter baumannii isolates and the correlation of the detection of β- lactamase proteins with the resistance phenotypes demonstrated an added value for LC- MS/MS in antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
