Genetic linkage studies suggest that Alzheimer's disease is not a single homogeneous disorder

TL;DR: The inheritance of five polymorphic DNA markers from the proximal long arm of chromosome 21 in a large unselected series of pedi-grees with familial Alzheimer's disease suggests that Alzheimer's Disease is not a single entity, but rather results from genetic defects on chromosome 21 and from other genetic or nongenetic factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alzheimer's disease in Down's syndrome Clinicopathologic studies

TL;DR: It is indicated that by longitudinal neuropsychological evaluations and lab tests, which exclude other causes of dementia, the diagnosis of AD can be made even in severely and profoundly retarded patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aluminum and Alzheimer's disease.

TL;DR: The evidence, however, does not support an etiological role for aluminum in Alzheimer's disease, and the hypothesis that aluminum could be important in the pathogenesis of this neurodegenerative process is weakened.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of exposure of miners to aluminium powder

TL;DR: There were no significant differences between exposed and non-exposed miners in reported diagnoses of neurological disorder; however, exposed miners performed less well than did unexposed workers on cognitive state examinations; also, the proportion of men with scores in the impaired range was greater in the exposed than non-Exposed group.
