T cell receptor cross-recognition of an HIV-1 CD8+ T cell epitope presented by closely related alleles from the HLA-A3 superfamily.
Mathias Lichterfeld,Katie L. Williams,Stanley K. Mui,Shivani A. Shah,Bianca R. Mothé,Alessandro Sette,Arthur Y. Kim,Mary N. Johnston,Nicole C. Burgett,Nicole Frahm,Daniel E. Cohen,Christian Brander,Eric S. Rosenberg,Bruce D. Walker,Bruce D. Walker,Marcus Altfeld,Xu G. Yu +16 more
TL;DR: Despite widespread cross-presentation of identical HIV-1 peptides in HIV- 1-infected individuals expressing HLA-A3 or Hla-A11, peptides presented by HLA's commonly exhibited clear immune distinctiveness with exclusive TCR recognition, it is shown that specific TCRs can cross-recognize their antigen in the context of both HLA’s.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in the Expressed HLA Class I Alleles Effect the Differential Clustering of HIV Type 1-Specific T Cell Responses in Infected Chinese and Caucasians
Xu G. Yu,Marylyn M. Addo,Beth Perkins,Feili Wej,Almas Rathod,Shaun C. Geer,Mark Parta,Daniel E. Cohen,David Stone,Christopher J. Russell,Giancarlo Tanzi,Shan Mei,Alysse G. Wurcel,Nicole Frahm,Mathias Lichterfeld,Laura Heath,James I. Mullins,Francesco M. Marincola,Philip J. R. Goulder,Christian Brander,Todd M. Allen,Yunzhen Cao,Bruce D. Walker,Marcus Altfeld +23 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the clustering of HIV-1-specific T cell responses is influenced by the genetic HLA class I background in the study populations, which means specific regions of the virus can be expected to be differentially targeted in ethnically diverse populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
ACE2-Fc fusion protein overcomes viral escape by potently neutralizing SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern
Tsung-I Tsai,Jahan Khalili,Mark Gilchrist,Andrew B. Waight,Daniel E. Cohen,Shi Kai Zhuo,Yong Zhang,Muran Ding,Hailian Zhu,A. Mak,Yi Zhu,Dennis R. Goulet +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , an ACE2-Fc fusion protein, SI-F019, was presented for the treatment of COVID-19, which is not compromised, but actually strengthened, by the mutations of dominant variants including Omicron.
Journal ArticleDOI
Primary Care Issues for HIV-Infected Patients
TL;DR: Any primary care provider may be called on to care for a patient living with HIV, and it is incumbent on all medical providers to become proficient in the management of this complex infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urine-Based Asymptomatic Urethral Gonorrhea and Chlamydia Screening and Sexual Risk-Taking Behavior in Men Who Have Sex with Men in Greater Boston
TL;DR: It is suggested that asymptomatic urethral chlamydia and gonorrhea may be uncommon in MSM living in the greater Boston area and that the recent rise in the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections may not be due to untreated asymPTomatic infections.
