TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a series of timeslice maps for 20 ka, 15 ka, 10 ka and 5 ka, including grounding line position and ice sheet thickness changes, along with a clear assessment of levels of confidence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Terrestrial and submarine evidence for the extent and timing of the Last Glacial Maximum and the onset of deglaciation on the maritime-Antarctic and sub-Antarctic islands
Dominic A. Hodgson,Dominic A. Hodgson,Alastair G C Graham,Stephen Roberts,Michael J. Bentley,Colm Ó Cofaigh,Elie Verleyen,Wim Vyverman,Vincent Jomelli,Vincent Favier,Daniel Brunstein,Deborah Verfaillie,Eric A. Colhoun,Krystyna M. Saunders,Patricia M. Selkirk,Andrew Mackintosh,David W. Hedding,Werner Nel,Kevin Hall,Matt S. McGlone,Nathalie Van der Putten,William A. Dickens,James Smith +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the literature found surprisingly few high quality chronological constraints on changing glacier extents on these timescales in the maritime and sub-Antarctic sector.
Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19 and the academe in South Africa: Not business as usual
David W. Hedding,Michelle Greve,Gregory Dennis Breetzke,Werner Nel,Bettine Jansen van Vuuren +4 more
TL;DR: Hedding et al. as discussed by the authors discuss some of these impacts, ranging from undergraduate level to large research projects, and offer suggestions on how to mitigate some of the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Payouts push professors towards predatory journals.
TL;DR: If South Africa truly wants to encourage good research, it must stop paying academics by the paper, says David William Hedding.

Climate change melts Marion Island's snow and ice
TL;DR: For example, in the case of the island of Marion Island as mentioned in this paper, ice on the peaks of the mountain has been slowly melting since the mid-1960s, resulting in hummocky, thermokarst terrain and meltwater channels.
