Journal ArticleDOI

Individual dispersal, landscape connectivity and ecological networks.

TL;DR: Whether landscape connectivity estimates could gain in both precision and generality by incorporating three fundamental outcomes of dispersal theory is reviewed, and it is suggested that the ecological network in a given landscape could be designed by stacking up such linkages designed for several species living in different ecosystems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Muscle strength and physical performance as predictors of mortality, hospitalization, and disability in the oldest old

TL;DR: The predictive value of muscle strength and physical performance in the oldest old for all‐cause mortality; hospitalization; and the onset of disability, defined as a decline in activities of daily living, is evaluated independent of muscle mass, inflammatory markers, and comorbidities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evolution of dispersal strategies and dispersal syndromes in fragmented landscapes

TL;DR: The effects of fragmentation on the evolution of non‐random dispersal are emphasized and a set of priorities for future empirical and theoretical work are highlighted that together would provide the understanding of eco‐evolutionary dynamics of dispersal syndromes required for improving the ability to predict and manage spatially structured populations and communities.
