Self-determination theory applied to physical education: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Diego Itibere Cunha Vasconcellos,Philip D. Parker,Toni A. Hilland,Renata Cinelli,Katherine B. Owen,Nathanial Kapsal,Jane Lee,Devan Antczak,Nikos Ntoumanis,Richard M. Ryan,Chris Lonsdale +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the evidence regarding self-determination theory within the school physical education context and applied a multilevel structural equation modeling approach to meta-analyze data from a systematic review that identified 265 relevant studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-determination theory in physical education: A systematic review of qualitative studies
Rhiannon L. White,Andrew Bennie,Diego Itibere Cunha Vasconcellos,Renata Cinelli,Toni A. Hilland,Katherine B. Owen,Chris Lonsdale +6 more
TL;DR: This article conducted a systematic search in four databases, included 34 studies, and thematically analyzed data from all included studies, finding that low relatedness and competence satisfaction were associated with negative affect and reduced participation. Need satisfaction was associated with positive affect and increased participation.
