Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic NecrosisVirus (IHHNV) in Wild Adult Blue Shrimp Penaeus stylirostris from the Northern Gulf of California, Mexico
M. S. Morales-Covarrubias,L. M. Nunan,Donald V. Lightner,J. C. Mota-Urbina,M. C. Garza-Aguirre,M. C. Chávez-Sánchez +5 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that wild adults of P. stylirostris are infected with IHHNV, and the prevalence in unfertilized eggs was 100% and in sperm was 60%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of genomic variations among geographic isolates of white spot syndrome virus using restriction analysis and Southern blot hybridization
TL;DR: The results indicate that some genomic components of WSSV from different geographic regions share a high degree of homology, and this method can be used to distinguish between the W SSV isolate from crayfish and the WSSVs isolates from penaeid shrimp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Partial characterization of a togavirus (LOVV) associated with histopathological changes of the lymphoid organ of penaeid shrimps
TL;DR: History and ultrastructural studies of abnormal lymphoid organs from a populat~on of cultured Penaeus vannamei revealed the presence of a previously unreported virus infecting this group of marine invertebrate animals, considered to be a member of the Togaviridae.
Journal ArticleDOI
IHHN disease of Penaeus stylirostris: effects of shrimp size on disease expression
TL;DR: The larger a population of P. stylirostris is upon initial exposure to IHHNV, the less acute it will be disease manifestation within a given time and the longer will be the period before the disease is first histologically detectable.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induced resistance to white spot syndrome virus infection in Penaeus stylirostris through pre-infection with infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus: a preliminary study
Kathy F.J. Tang,Stephanie V Durand,Brenda L White,Rita M. Redman,Leone L. Mohney,Donald V. Lightner +5 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, juvenile P. stylirostris that are highly infected with IHHNV show resistance to WSSV infection.
