Structure-based Design of Prefusion-stabilized SARS-CoV-2 Spikes

TL;DR: Over 100 structure-guided spike variants based upon a previously determined cryo-EM structure of the prefusion SARS-CoV-2 spike are designed and expressed, with the best variant, HexaPro, having six beneficial proline substitutions leading to ∼10-fold higher expression than its parental construct.
Posted ContentDOI

Identification of a conserved neutralizing epitope present on spike proteins from all highly pathogenic coronaviruses

TL;DR: The authors identified residues 980-1006 in the flexible hinge region at the S2 apex as the 3A3 epitope, consistent with binding to natural and engineered spike variants, which may help guide design of pan-protective spike immunogens.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibodies binding diverse pertactin epitopes protect mice from Bordetella pertussis infection

TL;DR: In this article , recombinant antibodies were found to protect multiple pertactin epitopes against Bordetella pertussis infection and significantly reduced lung colonization levels after sub-lethal challenge, with no antibody mediating antibodydependent complement-induced lysis.
