Inferring expressed genes by whole-genome sequencing of plasma DNA
Peter Ulz,Gerhard G. Thallinger,Martina Auer,Ricarda Graf,Karl Kashofer,Stephan W Jahn,Luca Abete,Gunda Pristauz,Edgar Petru,Jochen B. Geigl,Ellen Heitzer,Michael R. Speicher +11 more
TL;DR: It is found that the plasma DNA read depth patterns from healthy donors reflected the expression signature of hematopoietic cells, and in patients with cancer having metastatic disease, expressed cancer driver genes in regions with somatic copy number gains with high accuracy were classified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective Validation Study of a Predictive Score for Operability of Recurrent Ovarian Cancer: The Multicenter Intergroup Study DESKTOP II. A Project of the AGO Kommission OVAR, AGO Study Group, NOGGO, AGO-Austria, and MITO
Philipp Harter,Jalid Sehouli,Alexander Reuss,Annette Hasenburg,Giovanni Scambia,David Cibula,Sven Mahner,Ignace Vergote,Alexander Reinthaller,Alexander Burges,Lars Hanker,Martin Pölcher,Christian Kurzeder,Ulrich Canzler,Karl U. Petry,Andreas Obermair,Edgar Petru,Edgar Petru,Barbara Schmalfeldt,Domenica Lorusso,Andreas du Bois +20 more
TL;DR: This score is the first prospectively validated instrument to positively predict surgical outcome in recurrent ovarian cancer and will be enrolled in the recently started randomized prospective DESKTOP III trial investigating the role of surgery in recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
L1CAM in Early-Stage Type I Endometrial Cancer: Results of a Large Multicenter Evaluation
Alain G. Zeimet,Daniel Reimer,Monica Huszar,Boris Winterhoff,Ulla Puistola,Samira Abdel Azim,Elisabeth Müller-Holzner,Alon Ben-Arie,Léon C van Kempen,Edgar Petru,Stephan W Jahn,Yvette P. Geels,Leon F.A.G. Massuger,Frédéric Amant,Stephan Polterauer,Elisa Lappi-Blanco,Johan Bulten,Alexandra Meuter,Staci Tanouye,Peter Oppelt,Monika Stroh-Weigert,Alexander Reinthaller,Andrea Mariani,Werner O. Hackl,Michael Netzer,Uwe Schirmer,Ignace Vergote,Peter Altevogt,Christian Marth,Mina Fogel +29 more
TL;DR: L1CAM has been shown to be the best-ever published prognostic factor in FIGO stage I, type I endometrial cancers and shows clear superiority over the standardly used multifactor risk score.
Journal ArticleDOI
Establishment of tumor‐specific copy number alterations from plasma DNA of patients with cancer
Ellen Heitzer,Martina Auer,Eva M. Hoffmann,Martin Pichler,Christin Gasch,Peter Ulz,Sigurd Lax,Julie Waldispuehl-Geigl,Oliver Mauermann,Sumitra Mohan,Gunda Pristauz,Carolin Lackner,Gerald Höfler,Florian Eisner,Edgar Petru,Heinz Sill,Hellmut Samonigg,Klaus Pantel,Sabine Riethdorf,Thomas Bauernhofer,Jochen B. Geigl,Michael R. Speicher +21 more
TL;DR: This work determined the plasma DNA size distribution and the fraction of mutated plasma DNA fragments with deep sequencing and an ultrasensitive mutation‐detection method, and described a biphasic distribution in a surprisingly high proportion of cancer patients, which may have important implications for tumor diagnosis and monitoring.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leiomyosarcoma of the Uterus: A Clinicopathologic Multicenter Study of 71 Cases
Klaus Mayerhofer,Andreas Obermair,Gudrun Windbichler,Edgar Petru,Alexandra Kaider,Lukas Hefler,Klaus Czerwenka,Sepp Leodolter,Christian Kainz +8 more
TL;DR: Early tumor stage, age <50 years, and absence of vascular space involvement were independently associated with good prognosis, and Mitotic count failed to act as an independent prognostic parameter in patients with tumor stage II-IV disease.
