Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of fecal calprotectin improves monitoring and detection of recurrence of Crohn's disease after surgery

TL;DR: In this analysis of data from a prospective clinical trial, FC measurement has sufficient sensitivity and NPV values to monitor for CD recurrence after intestinal resection and its predictive value might be used to identify patients most likely to relapse.
Journal ArticleDOI

EspG, a Novel Type III System-Secreted Protein from Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli with Similarities to VirA of Shigella flexneri

TL;DR: It is reported that rorf2 encodes a novel protein, named EspG, which is secreted by the type III secretory system and which is translocated into host epithelial cells, indicating that these proteins are functionally equivalent in Shigella.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adherence characteristics of attaching and effacing strains of Escherichia coli from rabbits.

TL;DR: The results indicate that although diarrheagenic E. coli strains from rabbits may have common properties associated with the ability to produce attaching-effacing lesions, they differ from each other and from enteropathogenic E. Escherichia coli of humans in terms of some of the adhesins that mediate binding to eukaryotic cells.
