Crohn's disease management after intestinal resection: a randomised trial
Peter De Cruz,Peter De Cruz,Michael A. Kamm,Michael A. Kamm,Amy L. Hamilton,Kathryn J. Ritchie,Efrosinia O. Krejany,Alexandra Gorelik,Danny Liew,Lani Prideaux,Ian C. Lawrance,Jane M. Andrews,Peter A. Bampton,Peter R. Gibson,Miles P. Sparrow,Rupert W. Leong,Timothy H. Florin,Richard B. Gearry,Graham L. Radford-Smith,Finlay A. Macrae,H.S. Debinski,Warwick Selby,Ian Kronborg,M. Johnston,Rodney Woods,P. Ross Elliott,Sally Bell,Steven J. Brown,William Connell,Paul V. Desmond +29 more
TL;DR: Treatment according to clinical risk of recurrence, with early colonoscopy and treatment step-up for recurrence), is better than conventional drug therapy alone for prevention of postoperative Crohn's disease recurrence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of fecal calprotectin improves monitoring and detection of recurrence of Crohn's disease after surgery
Emily K Wright,Emily K Wright,Michael A. Kamm,Michael A. Kamm,Peter De Cruz,Peter De Cruz,Amy L. Hamilton,Amy L. Hamilton,Kathryn J. Ritchie,Efrosinia O. Krejany,Steven T. Leach,Alexandra Gorelik,Danny Liew,Lani Prideaux,Lani Prideaux,Ian C. Lawrance,Ian C. Lawrance,Jane M. Andrews,Jane M. Andrews,Peter A. Bampton,Peter A. Bampton,Simon Jakobovits,Timothy H. Brown,William Connell,Andrew S. Day,Paul V. Desmond,Paul V. Desmond,Richard B. Gearry +40 more
TL;DR: In this analysis of data from a prospective clinical trial, FC measurement has sufficient sensitivity and NPV values to monitor for CD recurrence after intestinal resection and its predictive value might be used to identify patients most likely to relapse.
Journal ArticleDOI
EspG, a Novel Type III System-Secreted Protein from Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli with Similarities to VirA of Shigella flexneri
Simon J. Elliott,Efrosinia O. Krejany,Jay L. Mellies,Roy M. Robins-Browne,Chihiro Sasakawa,James B. Kaper +5 more
TL;DR: It is reported that rorf2 encodes a novel protein, named EspG, which is secreted by the type III secretory system and which is translocated into host epithelial cells, indicating that these proteins are functionally equivalent in Shigella.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of thiopurines and adalimumab in preventing Crohn's disease recurrence in high-risk patients – a POCER study analysis
P. De Cruz,Michael A. Kamm,Amy L. Hamilton,Kathryn J. Ritchie,Efrosinia O. Krejany,Alexandra Gorelik,Danny Liew,Lani Prideaux,Ian C. Lawrance,Jane M. Andrews,Peter A. Johnston,Rodney Woods,Peter R. Elliott,Sally Bell,Stephanie Brown,William Connell,Paul V. Desmond +27 more
TL;DR: Crohn's disease recurs in the majority of patients after intestinal resection, and the likelihood of recurrence after resection is low.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adherence characteristics of attaching and effacing strains of Escherichia coli from rabbits.
Roy M. Robins-Browne,A M Tokhi,L M Adams,Vicki Bennett-Wood,A V Moisidis,Efrosinia O. Krejany,L. E. O'Gorman +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that although diarrheagenic E. coli strains from rabbits may have common properties associated with the ability to produce attaching-effacing lesions, they differ from each other and from enteropathogenic E. Escherichia coli of humans in terms of some of the adhesins that mediate binding to eukaryotic cells.
