Crack cocaine, disease progression, and mortality in a multicenter cohort of HIV-1 positive women
Judith A. Cook,Jane K. Burke-Miller,Mardge H. Cohen,Robert L. Cook,David Vlahov,Tracey E. Wilson,Elizabeth T. Golub,Rebecca M. Schwartz,Andrea A. Howard,Claudia Ponath,Michael Plankey,Alexandra M. Levine,Dennis D. Grey +12 more
TL;DR: Use of crack cocaine independently predicts AIDS-related mortality, immunologic and virologic markers of HIV-1 disease progression, and development of AIDS-defining illnesses among women.
Journal ArticleDOI
A peer-education intervention to reduce injection risk behaviors for HIV and hepatitis C virus infection in young injection drug users
Richard S. Garfein,Richard S. Garfein,Elizabeth T. Golub,Alan E. Greenberg,Alan E. Greenberg,Holly Hagan,Debra L. Hanson,Sharon M. Hudson,Farzana Kapadia,Mary H. Latka,Lawrence J. Ouellet,David W. Purcell,Steffanie A. Strathdee,Hanne Thiede +13 more
TL;DR: Interventions providing information, enhancing risk-reduction skills, and motivating behavior change through peer education training can reduce injection risk behaviors, although risk elimination might be necessary to prevent HCV transmission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variations in serum müllerian inhibiting substance between white, black, and Hispanic women
David B. Seifer,Elizabeth T. Golub,Geralyn Lambert-Messerlian,Lorie Benning,Kathryn Anastos,D. Heather Watts,Mardge H. Cohen,Roksana Karim,Mary Young,Howard Minkoff,Ruth M. Greenblatt +10 more
TL;DR: There is an independent effect of race and ethnicity on the age-related decline in MIS over time and average MIS values were lower among black and Hispanic women, adjusting for age, body mass index, smoking, and HIV status.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The risk of ESRD remains high among HIV-infected individuals in care but is declining with improvements in virologic suppression, coincident with notable increases in both the prevalence of viral suppression and the prevalenceof E SRD risk factors including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hepatitis C virus coinfection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating vitamin D correlates with serum antimüllerian hormone levels in late-reproductive-aged women: Women's Interagency HIV Study
Zaher Merhi,David B. Seifer,Jeremy Weedon,Oluwatoyin Adeyemi,Susan Holman,Kathryn Anastos,Elizabeth T. Golub,Mary Young,Roksana Karim,Ruth M. Greenblatt,Howard Minkoff +10 more
TL;DR: A novel relationship is reported between circulating 25 OH-D and AMH in women aged ≥40 years, suggesting that 25OH-D deficiency might be associated with lower ovarian reserve in late-reproductive-aged women.
