The effect of a single fraction compared to multiple fractions on painful bone metastases: a global analysis of the Dutch Bone Metastasis Study
Elsbeth Steenland,J.W.H. Leer,Hans C. van Houwelingen,Wendy J. Post,Wilbert B. van den Hout,Job Kievit,Hanneke C. J. M. de Haes,Hendrik Martijn,Bing Oei,Ernest Vonk,Elzbieta van der Steen-Banasik,Ruud Wiggenraad,J. Hoogenhout,C.C. Wárlám-Rodenhuis,Geertjan van Tienhoven,Rinus Wanders,J. Pomp,M. van Reijn,Thijs van Mierlo,Ewald H. J. M. Rutten +19 more
TL;DR: The global analysis of the Dutch study indicates the equality of a single fraction as compared to a 6 fraction treatment in patients with painful bone metastases provided that 4 times more retreatments are accepted in the single dose group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved Risk Assessment by Integrating Molecular and Clinicopathological Factors in Early-stage Endometrial Cancer—Combined Analysis of the PORTEC Cohorts
Ellen Stelloo,Remi A. Nout,Elisabeth M. Osse,Ina J. Jürgenliemk-Schulz,Jan J. Jobsen,Ludy C.H.W. Lutgens,Elzbieta van der Steen-Banasik,Hans W. Nijman,Hein Putter,Tjalling Bosse,Carien L. Creutzberg,Vincent T.H.B.M. Smit +11 more
TL;DR: Assessment of this integrated risk profile is feasible in daily practice, and holds promise to reduce both overtreatment and undertreatment, in patients with early-stage endometrial carcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Survival after relapse in patients with endometrial cancer: results from a randomized trial.
Carien L. Creutzberg,Wim L.J. van Putten,Peter C.M. Koper,M.L.M. Lybeert,Jan J. Jobsen,C.C. Wárlám-Rodenhuis,Karin A.J. De Winter,Ludy C.H.W. Lutgens,Alfons C.M. van den Bergh,Elzbieta van der Steen-Banasik,H Beerman,Mat van Lent +11 more
TL;DR: As pelvic RT was shown to improve locoregional control significantly, but without a survival benefit, its use should be limited to those patients at sufficiently high risk for recurrence in order to maximize local control and relapse-free survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substantial lymph-vascular space invasion (LVSI) is a significant risk factor for recurrence in endometrial cancer - A pooled analysis of PORTEC 1 and 2 trials
Tjalling Bosse,Elke E M Peters,Carien L. Creutzberg,Ina M. Jürgenliemk-Schulz,Jan J. Jobsen,Jan Willem M. Mens,Ludy C.H.W. Lutgens,Elzbieta van der Steen-Banasik,Vincent T.H.B.M. Smit,Remi A. Nout +9 more
TL;DR: Substantial LVSI was the strongest independent prognostic factor for pelvic regional recurrence, distant metastasis and overall survival and should be considered for stage I EC with substantial LVSI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quality of Life After Pelvic Radiotherapy or Vaginal Brachytherapy for Endometrial Cancer: First Results of the Randomized PORTEC-2 Trial
Remi A. Nout,Hein Putter,Ina M. Jürgenliemk-Schulz,Jan J. Jobsen,Ludy C.H.W. Lutgens,Elzbieta van der Steen-Banasik,Jan Willem M. Mens,Annerie Slot,Marika C. Stenfert Kroese,Bart N. F. M. van Bunningen,Vincent T.H.B.M. Smit,Hans W. Nijman,Philine P. van den Tol,Carien L. Creutzberg +13 more
TL;DR: Patients who received EBRT reported significantly higher levels of diarrhea and bowel symptoms, which resulted in a higher need to remain close to a toilet and, as a consequence, more limitation of daily activities because of bowel symptoms and decreased social functioning.
