100 mum and 160 mum emission as resolved star-formation rate estimators in M33 (HERM33ES)
M. Boquien,D. Calzetti,C. Kramer,E. M. Xilouris,Frank Bertoldi,J. Braine,Christof Buchbender,Francoise Combes,Frank P. Israel,B. S. Koribalski,S. D. Lord,G. Quintana-Lacaci,Monica Relaño,Markus Röllig,Gordon J. Stacey,Fatemeh Tabatabaei,Remo P. J. Tilanus,F. F. S. van der Tak,P. van der Werf,S. Verley +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provided new relations to estimate the SFR from resolved star-forming regions at 100 and 160 micrometers, respectively, in the nearby (840 kpc) galaxy M33.
Journal ArticleDOI
NH_3(1_0-0_0) in the pre-stellar core L1544
Paola Caselli,Luca Bizzocchi,E. Keto,Olli Sipilä,Mario Tafalla,Laurent Pagani,Lars E. Kristensen,F. F. S. van der Tak,C. M. Walmsley,C. Codella,Brunella Nisini,Yuri Aikawa,A. Faure,E. F. van Dishoeck +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the velocity-resolved Herschel-HIFI observations of the ortho-NH_3(1_0-0_0) line at 572 GHz were used to study the abundance profile of ammonia across the pre-stellar core L1544 to test current theories of its physical and chemical structure.
Journal ArticleDOI
H3O+ line emission from starbursts and AGNs
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the H3O+ molecule to investigate the impact of starburst and AGN activity on the chemistry of the molecular interstellar medium and found that the H 3O+ to HCO+ column density ratio is large in all detected galaxies apart from in IC 342 where it is about one order of magnitude lower, however, uncertainties in N(H3O+) may be significant due to lack of definite information on source size and excitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ionization rates of galactic nuclei and disks from Herschel/HIFI observations of water and its associated ions
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the Herschel/HIFI spectra of the H2O 1113 GHz and H 2O+ 1115 GHz lines toward five nearby prototypical starburst/AGN systems, and OH+ 971 GHz spectra toward three of these.
Journal ArticleDOI
First hyperfine resolved far-infrared OH spectrum from a star-forming region
S. F. Wampfler,Simon Bruderer,Lars E. Kristensen,L. Chavarria,Edwin Bergin,Arnold O. Benz,E. F. van Dishoeck,Gregory J. Herczeg,F. F. S. van der Tak,Javier R. Goicoechea,Steven D. Doty,Fabrice Herpin +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Heterodyne Instrument for the Far-Infrared (HIFI) on Herschel to obtain the first hyperfine velocity-resolved OH far-infrared spectrum of a star-forming region.
