Journal ArticleDOI
Massive molecular outflows and evidence for AGN feedback from CO observations
Claudia Cicone,Roberto Maiolino,E. Sturm,J. Gracia-Carpio,Chiara Feruglio,Roberto Neri,Susanne Aalto,Ric Davies,Fabrizio Fiore,J. Fischer,Santiago García-Burillo,Eduardo González-Alfonso,S. Hailey-Dunsheath,Enrico Piconcelli,Sylvain Veilleux +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the properties of massive, galactic-scale outflows of molecular gas and investigated their impact on galaxy evolution, finding that the presence of an active galactic nucleus (AGN) can boost the outflow rate by a large factor, which is found to increase with the L-AGN/L-bol ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular line emission in NGC 1068 imaged with ALMA: I. An AGN-driven outflow in the dense molecular gas
Santiago García-Burillo,Francoise Combes,A. Usero,Susanne Aalto,M. Krips,S. Viti,Almudena Alonso-Herrero,L. K. Hunt,Eva Schinnerer,Andrew J. Baker,Frédéric Boone,Viviana Casasola,Luis Colina,Francesco Costagliola,Andreas Eckart,Asunción Fuente,Carsten Henkel,Carsten Henkel,A. Labiano,Sergio Martín,Isabel Márquez,Sebastien Muller,P. Planesas,C. Ramos Almeida,C. Ramos Almeida,Marco Spaans,Linda J. Tacconi,P. van der Werf +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) to map the emission of a set of dense molecular gas (n(H2)'1056 cm3) tracers (CO(3-2), CO(6-5), HCN(4-3), HCO+CS(7-6)) and their underlying continuum emission in the central r ∼ 2 kpc of NGC 1068 with spatial resolutions ∼0:3000:500 (∼20-35 pc for the assumed distance of D = 14 Mpc

Tacconi,P. van der Werf +24 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the fueling and the feedback of star formation and nuclear activity in NGC1068, a nearby (D=14Mpc) Seyfert 2 barred galaxy, by analyzing the distribution and kinematics of the molecular gas in the disk.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, a full high-resolution SPIRE FTS spectrum of the nearby ultraluminous infrared galaxy Mrk 231 is presented, including 25 lines, including CO J = 5-4 through J = 13-12, 7 rotational lines of H2O, 3 of OH+ and one line each of H 2O+, CH+, and HF.
