Journal ArticleDOI

Tracing high energy radiation with molecular lines near deeply embedded protostars

TL;DR: In this article, the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) was used to probe high energy radiation emitted by deeply embedded protostars and compared with chemical models, which can be explained with either enhanced X-rays or FUV fields from the central source.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ortho-to-para ratio of interstellar heavy water

TL;DR: In this article, the authors detected the fundamental transition of the ortho-D2O molecule at 607.35 GHz towards IRAS 16293-2422 and showed that the observed absorption is caused by the cold gas in the envelope of the protostar.
Journal ArticleDOI

First detection of ND in the solar-mass protostar IRAS16293-2422

Aurore Bacmann, +83 more
TL;DR: In this article, the deuterated form of the imidogen radical ND was detected and securely identified with two hyperfine component groups of its fundamental transition (N = 0-1) at 522.1 and 546.2 GHz, in absorption against the continuum background emitted from the nascent protostar.
