Alteration of elastin, collagen and their cross-links in abdominal aortic aneurysms
M. Carmo,L. Colombo,A. Bruno,Fabio Corsi,L. Roncoroni,M.S. Cuttin,F. Radice,E. Mussini,Piergiorgio Settembrini +8 more
TL;DR: Evaluating the elastin and collagen content through the detection of their cross-links in aneurysmal and non-aneurysmal abdominal aortic walls shows a concurrent increase of collagen cross- links.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ferritin nanocages: A biological platform for drug delivery, imaging and theranostics in cancer.
TL;DR: The structure and functions of ferritin nanocages are described, and an overview about the nanotechnological approaches implemented for applying them to cancer diagnosis and treatment is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNA-21 links epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and inflammatory signals to confer resistance to neoadjuvant trastuzumab and chemotherapy in HER2-positive breast cancer patients
Leticia De Mattos-Arruda,Giulia Bottai,Paolo Nuciforo,Luca Di Tommaso,Elisa Giovannetti,Elisa Giovannetti,Vicente Peg,Agnese Losurdo,Jose Perez-Garcia,Giovanna Masci,Fabio Corsi,Javier Cortes,Joan Seoane,Joan Seoane,George A. Calin,Libero Santarpia +15 more
TL;DR: The ability of miR-21 signaling to sustain EMT and shape the tumor immune microenvironment in HER2-positive breast cancer patients who may benefit from treatments containing PI3K inhibitors or immunomodulatory drugs is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumour homing and therapeutic effect of colloidal nanoparticles depend on the number of attached antibodies
Miriam Colombo,Luisa Fiandra,Giulia Alessio,Serena Mazzucchelli,Manuela Nebuloni,Clara De Palma,Karsten Kantner,Beatriz Pelaz,Rany Rotem,Fabio Corsi,Wolfgang J. Parak,Davide Prosperi +11 more
TL;DR: The results highlight the importance of precisely controlling the ligand density on the nanoparticle surface for optimizing active targeting, and that less antibodies can exhibit more effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protein nanocages for self-triggered nuclear delivery of DNA-targeted chemotherapeutics in Cancer Cells
Michela Bellini,Serena Mazzucchelli,Elisabetta Galbiati,Silvia Sommaruga,Luisa Fiandra,Marta Truffi,Maria Antonietta Rizzuto,Miriam Colombo,Paolo Tortora,Fabio Corsi,Davide Prosperi +10 more
TL;DR: The results from confocal microscopy and DNA damage assays proved that loading of doxorubicin in HFn nanoparticles increased the nuclear delivery of the drug, thus enhancing doxorbicin efficacy, and was reliable and straightforward providing an antiproliferative effect with high reproducibility.
