TL;DR: The observation of a multi-chord stellar occultation by Eris on 6 November 2010 is reported, consistent with a spherical shape for Eris, and it is anticipated that this atmosphere may periodically sublimate as Eris approaches its perihelion, at 37.8 astronomical units from the Sun.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unveiling a network of parallel filaments in the infrared dark cloud g14.225–0.506
Gemma Busquet,Gemma Busquet,Qizhou Zhang,A. Palau,Hauyu Baobab Liu,Álvaro Sánchez-Monge,Robert Estalella,Paul T. P. Ho,Paul T. P. Ho,Itziar de Gregorio-Monsalvo,Thushara Pillai,Friedrich Wyrowski,Josep M. Girart,Fabio P. Santos,Gabriel A. P. Franco +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of combined NH_3 (1,1) and (2,2) line emission observed with the Very Large Array and the Effelsberg 100 m telescope of the infrared dark cloud G14225-0506 were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Balloon-Borne Submillimeter Polarimetry of the Vela C Molecular Cloud: Systematic Dependence of Polarization Fraction on Column Density and Local Polarization-Angle Dispersion
Laura M. Fissel,Peter A. R. Ade,Francesco E. Angilè,Peter Ashton,Steven J. Benton,Mark J. Devlin,Bradley Dober,Yasuo Fukui,Nicholas Galitzki,Natalie N. Gandilo,J. Klein,Zhi-Yun Li,Andrei Korotkov,Peter G. Martin,Tristan G. Matthews,Lorenzo Moncelsi,Fumitaka Nakamura,C. Barth Netterfield,Giles Novak,Enzo Pascale,Frédérick Poidevin,Fabio P. Santos,Giorgio Savini,Douglas Scott,Jamil A. Shariff,Juan D. Soler,Nicholas Thomas,Carole Tucker,Gregory S. Tucker,Derek Ward-Thompson +29 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present results for Vela C obtained during the 2012 flight of the Balloon-borne Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope for Polarimetry (BLASTPol) and show that the mean level of the fractional polarization p and most of its spatial variations can be accounted for using an empirical three-parameter power-law fit.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported new polarimetric and photometric maps of the massive star-forming region OMC-1 using the HAWC+ instrument on the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical polarization mapping toward the interface between the local cavity and loop i
TL;DR: In this paper, an optical polarization survey of 878 stars from the Hipparcos catalog was conducted to investigate the distance of the proposed annular region and map the geometry of the Galactic magnetic field in these directions.
