Journal ArticleDOI
Epidemiological Investigation of the Prevalence of von Willebrand's Disease
TL;DR: The results suggest that the prevalence of von Willebrand's disease (vWd) might be much higher than previously reported and that a different screening approach might be of use for patients with mild bleeding diathesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A quantitative analysis of bleeding symptoms in type 1 von Willebrand disease: results from a multicenter European study (MCMDM-1 VWD)
Alberto Tosetto,Francesco Rodeghiero,Giancarlo Castaman,Anne Goodeve,Augusto B. Federici,Javier Batlle,Dominique Meyer,Edith Fressinaud,Claudine Mazurier,Jenny Goudemand,Jeroen Eikenboom,Reinhard Schneppenheim,U. Budde,Jørgen Ingerslev,Zdena Vorlova,David Habart,Lars Holmberg,Stefan Lethagen,John Pasi,Frank Hill,Ian R. Peake +20 more
TL;DR: Higher BS was related with increasing likelihood of VWD, and a mucocutaneous BS was strongly associated with bleeding after surgery or tooth extraction, which is potentially useful for a more accurate diagnosis of type 1 VWD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenotype and genotype of a cohort of families historically diagnosed with Type 1 von Willebrand Disease in the European study, molecular and clinical markers for the diagnosis and management of Type 1 von Willebrand Disease (MCMDM-1VWD)
Anne Goodeve,Jeroen Eikenboom,Giancarlo Castaman,Francesco Rodeghiero,Augusto B. Federici,Javier Batlle,Dominique Meyer,Claudine Mazurier,Jenny Goudemand,Reinhard Schneppenheim,Ulrich Budde,Jørgen Ingerslev,David Habart,Zdena Vorlova,Lars Holmberg,Stefan Lethagen,John Pasi,Frank Hill,Mohammad Hashemi Soteh,Luciano Baronciani,Christer Halldén,Andrea Guilliatt,Will Lester,Ian R. Peake +23 more
TL;DR: This study recruited families based on previous type 1 VWD diagnosis and stratified patients into those with or without phenotypes suggestive of qualitative VWF defects (abnormal multimers) and with or with mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI
The discriminant power of bleeding history for the diagnosis of type 1 von Willebrand disease: an international, multicenter study.
Francesco Rodeghiero,Giancarlo Castaman,Alberto Tosetto,Javier Batlle,Francesco Baudo,A. Cappelletti,P Casana,N. de Bosch,Jcj Eikenboom,Augusto B. Federici,Stefan Lethagen,S. Linari,Arun Srivastava +12 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the use of a standardized questionnaire and bleeding score may be useful for the identification of subjects requiring laboratory evaluation for type 1 von Willebrand disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early deaths and anti-hemorrhagic treatments in acute promyelocytic leukemia. A GIMEMA retrospective study in 268 consecutive patients.
TL;DR: The records of 268 consecutive patients with acute hypergranular promyelocytic leukemia, treated at 29 Italian centers between January 1984 and December 1987, have been reviewed to assess the incidence of early hemorrhagic deaths and the effectiveness of various antihemorrhagic treatments.
