Effectiveness of an Innovative Cognitive Treatment and Telerehabilitation on Subjects With Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Multicenter, Randomized, Active-Controlled Study.
Rosa Manenti,Elena Gobbi,Francesca Baglio,Ambra Macis,Clarissa Ferrari,Ilaria Pagnoni,Federica Rossetto,Sonia Di Tella,Federica Alemanno,Vincenzo Cimino,Giuliano Binetti,Sandro Iannaccone,Placido Bramanti,Stefano F. Cappa,Maria Cotelli +14 more
TL;DR: Preliminary evidence is provided in support of individualized VRRS treatment and telerehabilitation delivery for cognitive rehabilitation and should pave the way for future studies aiming at identifying optimal cognitive treatment protocols in subjects with MCI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Defective protein kinase C alpha leads to impaired secretion of soluble beta-amyloid precursor protein from Alzheimer's disease fibroblasts.
Stefano Govoni,Marco Racchi,S. Bergamaschi,M. Trabucchi,Fm Battaini,A. Bianchetti,Giuliano Binetti +6 more
TL;DR: The present study shows that cultured fibroblasts from sporadic AD patients present reduced cytosolic protein kinase C activity and reduced soluble APP secretion in response to low phorbol ester concentrations, suggesting a defect in the secretion of soluble amyloid β‐protein precursor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Losing protein in the brain: the case of progranulin.
TL;DR: Studies on GRN knockout mice suggest that progranulin-related neurodegenerative diseases may result from lifetime depletion of neurotrophic support together with cumulative damage in association with dysregulated inflammation, thus highlighting possible new molecular targets for GRN-related FTLD treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-replication of association between cathepsin D genotype and late onset Alzheimer disease.
Gunnar Menzer,Tomas Müller-Thomsen,Wolfgang Meins,Antonella Alberici,Giuliano Binetti,Christoph Hock,Roger M. Nitsch,Gabriela Stoppe,Jochen Reiss,Ulrich Finckh +9 more
TL;DR: An independent association study on CTSD and AD was performed in a sample of 324 Caucasian patients from Germany, Switzerland, and Italy with late onset AD, and 302 non-demented controls, although there was a slight but not significant increase in frequency of the T allele and T carrier status in AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eating Behavior in Aging and Dementia: The Need for a Comprehensive Assessment
Silvia Fostinelli,Ramona De Amicis,Alessandro Leone,V. Giustizieri,Giuliano Binetti,Simona Bertoli,Alberto Battezzati,Stefano F. Cappa +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors have analyzed normal age-related and dementia-related changes and the tools that can be used to assess eating behavior and make recommendations to screening and monitoring eating behavior in aging and dementia, and to adopt these tools in clinical practice.
