Disorders of Visual and Spatial Perception in the Early Stage of Alzheimer's Disease
Giuliano Binetti,Stefano F. Cappa,Eugenio Magni,Alessandro Padovani,Angelo Bianchetti,M. Trabucchi +5 more
TL;DR: The results showing that the performances on most measures of visual and spatial perception is unimpaired, indicate that the “early” perceptual processes, as well as the access to structural knowledge, are not defective in early AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pop music and frontotemporal dementia
Cristina Geroldi,Tiziana Metitieri,Giuliano Binetti,Orazio Zanetti,M. Trabucchi,Giovanni B. Frisoni +5 more
TL;DR: A 68-year-old lawyer progressively developed apathetic behavior, indifference to his job, and disinhibition, and a change in musical taste that might represent a singular gain in FTD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction between tau and alpha-synuclein proteins is impaired in the presence of P301L tau mutation.
Luisa Benussi,Roberta Ghidoni,Anna Paterlini,Francesca Nicosia,Antonella Alberici,Simona Signorini,Laura Barbiero,Giuliano Binetti +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that P301L tau mutation strongly affects tau and alpha-synuclein neuronal distribution, and this binding was abolished by the most common tau mutations associated with frontotemporal dementia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distinct cerebrospinal fluid amyloid‐beta peptide signatures in cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia
Valentina Albertini,Luisa Benussi,Anna Paterlini,Michela Glionna,Annapaola Prestia,Luisella Bocchio-Chiavetto,Giovanni Amicucci,Samantha Galluzzi,Andrea Adorni,Cristina Geroldi,Giuliano Binetti,Giovanni B. Frisoni,Roberta Ghidoni +12 more
TL;DR: The quite comparable reduction of CSF Aβ1–42 in AD and in elderly SCZ patients reflects different pathophysiological dynamics in ageing brain, and suggests a dysmetabolism of amyloid precursor protein in olderSCZ patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of TAU mutations in an Italian clinical series of familial frontotemporal patients
Giuliano Binetti,Francesca Nicosia,Luisa Benussi,Roberta Ghidoni,Enrica Feudatari,Laura Barbiero,Simona Signorini,Aldo Villa,Flavia Mattioli,Orazio Zanetti,Antonella Alberici +10 more
TL;DR: In the familial FTD sample the estimation of TAU gene mutations accounted for a relative low prevalence (7.6%); based on the results, the existence of other mutations in regulatory regions in theTAU gene or, on the other hand, other genes might be responsible for the most cases of familialFTD.
