Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin-13 Induces Dramatically Different Transcriptional Programs in Three Human Airway Cell Types
June H. Lee,Naftali Kaminski,Gregory Dolganov,Gabriele Grunig,Laura L. Koth,Colin Solomon,David J. Erle,Dean Sheppard +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the in vivo response to IL-13 in the airways likely results from a combination of distinct effects on each of several resident airway cell types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrin αvβ8-Mediated Activation of Transforming Growth Factor-β by Perivascular Astrocytes: An Angiogenic Control Switch
Stephanie Cambier,Stephanie E. Gline,Dezhi Mu,Rodney Collins,Jun Araya,Gregory Dolganov,Steven Einheber,Nancy Boudreau,Stephen L. Nishimura +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, integrin αvβ8 was identified as a major cell surface receptor for latent TGF-β, and αβ8-dependent activation was the major mechanism of TGFβ activation in primary cultures of astrocytes or freshly dissociated fetal brain cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contribution of CFTR to apical-basolateral fluid transport in cultured human alveolar epithelial type II cells.
Xiaohui Fang,Yuanlin Song,Jan Hirsch,Luis J. V. Galietta,Nicoletta Pedemonte,Rachel L. Zemans,Gregory Dolganov,Alan S. Verkman,Michael A. Matthay +8 more
TL;DR: Real time RT-PCR demonstrated CFTR transcript expression in human AT II cells at a level similar to that in airway epithelial cells and may contribute to cAMP-regulated apical-basolateral fluid transport.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alveolar epithelial cells express mesenchymal proteins in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Cecilia Marmai,Rachel E. Sutherland,Kevin K. Kim,Gregory Dolganov,Xiaohui Fang,Sophia S. Kim,Shuwei Jiang,J.A. Golden,Charles W. Hoopes,Michael A. Matthay,Harold A. Chapman,Paul J. Wolters +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that alveolar type II cells can acquire features of mesenchymal cells in IPF lungs and that TGF-β can mediate this process.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Novel Method of Gene Transcript Profiling in Airway Biopsy Homogenates Reveals Increased Expression of a Na+-K+-Cl− Cotransporter (NKCC1) in Asthmatic Subjects
Gregory Dolganov,Prescott G. Woodruff,Alexander Novikov,Yifan Zhang,Ronald E. Ferrando,Richard Szubin,John V. Fahy +6 more
TL;DR: A novel real-time PCR-based method specifically designed for quantification of multiple low-abundance transcripts using as little as 2.5 fg of total RNA per gene has been reported, which has the same specificity and sensitivity as RT-PCR and a throughput level comparable to low-density DNA microarray hybridization.
