Perennials as Future Grain Crops: Opportunities and Challenges
Elizabeth A. Chapman,Hanne C. Thomsen,Sophia Tulloch,Pedro Correia,Guangbin Luo,Javad Najafi,Lee R. DeHaan,Timothy E. Crews,Lennart Olsson,Per-Olof Lundquist,Anna Westerbergh,Pai Pedas,Søren Knudsen,Michael G. Palmgren +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the trade-offs between annualism, perennialism, and yield of grain crops were analyzed in a large-scale experiment with a variety of grain crop species, and this information could be used to facilitate tailored genetic improvement of selected grain crops to improve agronomic traits and enhance yield.
Journal ArticleDOI
Engineering triacylglycerol accumulation in duckweed (Lemna japonica)

TL;DR: In this article , the authors report on the engineering of Lemna japonica for the synthesis and accumulation of triacylglycerols (TAG) in its fronds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accelerated Domestication of New Crops: Yield is Key
Guangbin Luo,Javad Najafi,Pedro Correia,Mai Duy Luu Trinh,Elizabeth A. Chapman,Jeppe Thulin Østerberg,Hanne C. Thomsen,Pai Pedas,Steve Larson,Caixia Gao,J. Poland,Søren Knudsen,Lee R. DeHaan,Michael G. Palmgren +13 more
TL;DR: De novo domestication of orphan or crop wild relatives using mutagenesis is an alternative and fast approach to achieve resilient crops with high yields in a much shorter period of time than ever before in agriculture as mentioned in this paper .
Book ChapterDOI
Protoplast Isolation and Transfection in Wheat.
Guangbin Luo,Boshu Li,Caixia Gao +2 more
TL;DR: Protocols for wheat protoplast isolation and transfection that are enabled by cellulase R-10 and macerozyme R- 10 containing enzymatic solution and polyethylene glycol-mediated method, respectively are described.
