Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of photochemical oxidation on the mixing state and light absorption of black carbon in the urban atmosphere of China
Qiyuan Wang,Ru-Jin Huang,Zhuzi Zhao,Junji Cao,Haiyan Ni,Xuexi Tie,Chongshu Zhu,Zhenxing Shen,Meng Wang,Wenting Dai,Yongming Han,Yongming Han,Ningning Zhang,André S. H. Prévôt,André S. H. Prévôt +14 more
TL;DR: The relationship between the refractory black carbon (rBC) aerosol mixing state and the atmospheric oxidation capacity was investigated to assess the possible influence of oxidants on the particles' light absorption effects at two large cities in China as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Characterization and Source Identification of Atmospheric Particulate Organosulfates Using Ultrahigh Resolution Mass Spectrometry
Kai Wang,Kai Wang,Kai Wang,Yun Zhang,Ru-Jin Huang,Meng Wang,Haiyan Ni,Christopher J. Kampf,Christopher J. Kampf,Yafang Cheng,Merete Bilde,Marianne Glasius,Thorsten Hoffmann +12 more
TL;DR: The nitro oxygen-OSs in the clean aerosol samples were mainly derived from monoterpenes, while much fewer monoterpene-derived nitrooxy- OSs were obtained in the polluted aerosol sample, showing that nitro Oxy-OS formation is affected by different precursors in clean and polluted air conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predominance of secondary organic aerosol to particle-bound reactive oxygen species activity in fine ambient aerosol
Jun Zhou,Jun Zhou,Miriam Elser,Miriam Elser,Ru-Jin Huang,Ru-Jin Huang,Manuel Krapf,Roman Fröhlich,Deepika Bhattu,Giulia Stefenelli,Peter Zotter,Emily A. Bruns,Simone M. Pieber,Simone M. Pieber,Haiyan Ni,Qiyuan Wang,Yichen Wang,Yaqing Zhou,Chunying Chen,Mao Xiao,Jay G. Slowik,Samuel Brown,Laure-Estelle Cassagnes,Kaspar R. Daellenbach,Kaspar R. Daellenbach,Thomas Nussbaumer,Marianne Geiser,André S. H. Prévôt,Imad El-Haddad,Junji Cao,Urs Baltensperger,Josef Dommen +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the chemical composition of aerosols and their exogenic reactive oxygen species (ROS) content at two contrasting locations Beijing (China) and Bern (Switzerland).
Journal ArticleDOI
Contrasting sources and processes of particulate species in haze days with low and high relative humidity in wintertime Beijing
Ru-Jin Huang,Yao He,Jing Duan,Yong Jie Li,Qi Chen,Yan Zheng,Yang Chen,Weiwei Hu,Chunshui Lin,Haiyan Ni,Wenting Dai,Junji Cao,Yunfei Wu,Renjian Zhang,Wei Xu,Wei Xu,Jurgita Ovadnevaite,Darius Ceburnis,Thorsten Hoffmann,Colin D. O'Dowd +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a systematic comparison of species in Submicron Particle (PM 1 ) in wintertime Beijing (29 December 2014 to 28 February 2015) for clean periods and pollution periods under low and high-RH conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size distribution and mixing state of refractory black carbon aerosol from a coastal city in South China
Qiyuan Wang,Ru-Jin Huang,Ru-Jin Huang,Zhuzi Zhao,Ningning Zhang,Yichen Wang,Haiyan Ni,Xuexi Tie,Yongming Han,Yongming Han,Mazhan Zhuang,Meng Wang,Jieru Zhang,Xuemin Zhang,Uli Dusek,Junji Cao,Junji Cao +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, an intensive measurement campaign was conducted in the coastal city of Xiamen, China to investigate the size distribution and mixing state of the refractory black carbon (rBC) aerosol.
