TL;DR: In this meta-analysis of pooled individual participant data from 25 cohort studies, the risk for adverse maternal and infant outcomes varied by gestational weight gain and across the range of prepregnancy weights, however, the optimal gestations weight gain ranges had limited predictive value for the outcomes assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Birth weight and prenatal exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (DDE): a meta-analysis within 12 European Birth Cohorts
Eva Govarts,Mark J. Nieuwenhuijsen,Greet Schoeters,Greet Schoeters,Ferran Ballester,K. TL;DR: The findings suggest that low-level exposure to PCB (or correlated exposures) impairs fetal growth, but that exposure to p,p´-DDE does not.
Journal ArticleDOI
Folic acid supplements in pregnancy and early childhood respiratory health
TL;DR: Folate supplements in the first trimester were associated with increased risk of wheeze and respiratory tract infections up to 18 months of age, suggesting that methyl donors in the maternal diet during pregnancy may influence respiratory health in children consistent with epigenetic mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, the separate and combined associations of maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and gestational weight gain with the risks of pregnancy complications and their population impact were assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is delivery by cesarean section a risk factor for food allergy
TL;DR: The results indicate that in predisposed children cesarean section might increase the risk of development of food allergy, which supports the theory that factors interfering with the colonization process might play a role in the development ofFood allergy.
