Journal ArticleDOI

Origins of halophilic microorganisms in ancient salt deposits

TL;DR: This research presents a new probabilistic procedure that allows for direct comparison of the response of the immune system to the presence of E.coli and shows clear patterns in response to E. Coli.
Journal ArticleDOI

Marinobacter aquaeolei sp. nov., a halophilic bacterium isolated from a Vietnamese oil-producing well.

TL;DR: Several strains of moderately halophilic and mesophilic bacteria were isolated at the head of an oil-producing well on an offshore platform in southern Vietnam and it is proposed that VT8T should be the type strain of a new species and should be named Marinobacter aquaeolei.
Journal ArticleDOI

Halococcus salifodinae sp. nov., an Archaeal Isolate from an Austrian Salt Mine

TL;DR: A novel extremely halophilic archaeon (archaebacterium) was isolated from rock salt obtained from an Austrian salt mine and it is proposed that this isolate should be recognized as a new species and should be named Halococcus salifodinae.
Journal ArticleDOI

Halobacterium noricense sp. nov., an archaeal isolate from a bore core of an alpine Permian salt deposit, classification of Halobacterium sp. NRC-1 as a strain of H. salinarum and emended description of H. salinarum

TL;DR: Two rod-shaped haloarchaeal strains, A1 and A2, were isolated from a bore core from a salt mine in Austria and are proposed as members of a single species, for which the name H. noricense is proposed.
