Journal ArticleDOI

Superconductivity in the Bi-Sr-Cu-O System

TL;DR: In this article, a superconducting transition with an onset temperature near 8 K was observed for the BiSr-Cu-O system through electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel phosphor for glareless white light-emitting diodes

TL;DR: A yellow-emitting phosphor, the Eu(2+)-doped chlorometasilicate (Ca(1-x-y,)Sr(x,)Eu(y))(7)(SiO(3))(6)Cl(2), which can be used to create glareless white light-emitter diodes, and phosphors based on this host material have much less blue absorption than other phosphors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A layered ionic crystal of polar Li@C 60 superatoms

TL;DR: The present method of purification and crystallization of C(60)-based metallofullerenes provides a new C( 60) fullerene material that contains a metal atom that has a unique two-dimensional structure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transient photoinduced ‘hidden’ phase in a manganite

TL;DR: A 'hidden insulating phase' distinct from that found in the hitherto known phase diagram is pointed towards using picosecond time-resolved X-ray diffraction on the lattice structure of a charge and orbitally ordered Nd(0.5)Sr(0-5)MnO(3) thin film.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantum fluctuations in spin-ice-like Pr2Zr2O7

TL;DR: Experimental evidence for quantum dynamics of magnetic monopolar quasiparticles in a new class of spin ice based on exchange interactions, Pr2Zr2O7, finds narrow pinch point features in otherwise diffuse elastic neutron scattering reflects adherence to a divergence-free constraint for disordered spins on long time scales.
