Photolysis of the carbon monoxide complex of myoglobin: nanosecond time-resolved crystallography.

TL;DR: Time-resolving experiments reveal the structures of myoglobin photoproducts, provide a structural foundation to spectroscopic results and molecular dynamics calculations, and demonstrate that time-resolved macromolecular crystallography can elucidate the structural bases of biochemical mechanisms on the nanosecond time scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

Roles of proximal ligand in heme proteins: replacement of proximal histidine of human myoglobin with cysteine and tyrosine by site-directed mutagenesis as models for P-450, chloroperoxidase, and catalase.

TL;DR: Histidine-93(F8) in human myoglobin (Mb), which is the proximal ligand of the heme iron, has been replaced with cysteine or tyrosine by site-directed mutagenesis and exhibit the altered axial ligation analogous to P-450, chloroperoxidase, and catalase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural studies of the carbon monoxide complex of [NiFe]hydrogenase from Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki F: suggestion for the initial activation site for dihydrogen.

TL;DR: The frequencies and relative intensities of the CO-related Raman bands indicated that the exogenously added CO is bound to the Ni atom with a bent Ni-C-O structure in solution, in agreement with the refined structure determined by X-ray crystallography.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transient photoinduced ‘hidden’ phase in a manganite

TL;DR: A 'hidden insulating phase' distinct from that found in the hitherto known phase diagram is pointed towards using picosecond time-resolved X-ray diffraction on the lattice structure of a charge and orbitally ordered Nd(0.5)Sr(0-5)MnO(3) thin film.
