Journal ArticleDOI

Empirical analysis of transcriptional activity in the Arabidopsis genome.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual experimental strategy was used to verify and correct the initial genome sequence annotation of the reference plant Arabidopsis and identified 5817 novel transcription units including a substantial amount of antisense gene transcription, and 40 genes within the genetically defined centromeres.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sequence and analysis of chromosome 1 of the plant Arabidopsis thaliana

Athanasios Theologis, +92 more
- 14 Dec 2000 -
TL;DR: The genome of the flowering plant Arabidopsis thaliana has five chromosomes and the sequence of the largest, chromosome 1, in two contigs of around 14.2 and 14.6 megabases is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mutually exclusive expression of odorant receptor transgenes.

TL;DR: This is the first demonstration of mutually exclusive activation among non-allelic OR gene members with identical coding and regulatory sequences and an unusual mode of gene expression, monoallelic and mutually exclusive, has previously been shown only for the antigen-receptor genes of the immune system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Odorant stimulation enhances survival of olfactory sensory neurons via MAPK and CREB.

TL;DR: It is found that odorant exposure selectively rescues populations of OSNs from apoptosis and rescue OSNs in a cAMP-dependent manner by activating the MAPK/CREB-dependent transcriptional pathway, possibly as a result of expression of Bcl-2.
