Vegetable yields and soil biochemical properties as influenced by fertilization in southern China.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper assessed the effects of different fertilizer treatments on vegetable yields and soil biochemical properties, with the aim to develop best fertilizer management strategy for vegetable production. And they concluded that the combined application of organic and chemical fertilizers without additional N or P (OPT) is the best management strategy that can improve soil fertility and vegetable yields, and meanwhile reduce the potential of N loss from soil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving anaerobic digestion of chicken manure under optimized biochar supplementation strategies

TL;DR: In this article, anaerobic digestion of chicken manure was carried out based on central composite design to identify the most optimal strategy for biochar supplementation, and the results also demonstrated that biochar dosage and its interaction with manure loading were key factors with significant impact on CMP.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low dissolved oxygen in the Pearl River estuary in summer: Long-term spatio-temporal patterns, trends, and regulating factors.

TL;DR: Analysis of 24-year time series data obtained during 1988-2011 to analyze the long-term variability in dissolved oxygen in summer over the entire estuary from urban areas to estuarine coastal waters showed that various regulating factors were responsible for the variability of DO in different regions of the PRE.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrogen Sources and Rates of Phytoplankton Uptake in Different Regions of Hong Kong Waters in Summer

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the uptake rates of ammonium (NH4+), nitrate (NO3−), and urea at various depths (light levels) in Hong Kong waters during the summer of 2008 using 15N tracer techniques in order to determine which form of nitrogen supported algal growth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the Proteomic Profiles of the Brown Tide Alga Aureoumbra lagunensis under Phosphate- and Nitrogen-Limiting Conditions and of Its Phosphate Limitation-Specific Protein with Alkaline Phosphatase Activity

TL;DR: The abundance, location, and functional expression of this alkaline phosphatase all indicate the importance of organic P utilization for A. lagunensis under P limitation, and the possible role ofThis alkalineosphatase in regenerating phosphate from extra- or intracellular organic phosphorus.
