Journal ArticleDOI

CN-China: Revised runoff curve number by using rainfall-runoff events data in China

TL;DR: The revised CN (dubbed CN-China) provides better reference guidelines that are suitable for most natural conditions in China and can be taken advantage of to enhance the quality of future programs related to surface runoff estimation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nutrient‐limited growth of aureoumbra lagunensis (pelagophyceae), with implications for its capability to outgrow other phytoplankton species in phosphate‐limited environments

TL;DR: A uniqe quadratic relationship between the productivity index (PI) and growth rate was discovered, which supports an earlier argument that PI may not be a good indicator of nutritional status.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phylogenetic diversity and spatio-temporal distribution of nitrogenase genes (nifH) in the northern South China Sea

TL;DR: It was demonstrated that salinity was the key environmental factor determining the spatio-temporal variations of diazotrophic communities along the transect and Trichodesmium spp.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative metagenomics study reveals pollution induced changes of microbial genes in mangrove sediments.

TL;DR: Investigating the metabolic capacity of microorganisms in contaminated (CMS) and pristine (PMS) mangrove sediments at subtropical and tropical coastal sites found that the former had a reduced diazotroph abundance and nitrogen fixing capability, but an enhanced metabolism that is related to the generation of microbial greenhouse gases via increased methanogenesis and sulfate reduction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risks of phosphorus runoff losses from five Chinese paddy soils under conventional management practices

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the impact of fertilizer usage in rice-wheat rotation systems and concluded that fertilizer is the major source of P loss in Chinese rice production systems.
