Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma acylcarnitines and progression of carotid artery atherosclerosis in HIV infection.
Simin Hua,Justin M. Scott,David B. Hanna,Sabina A. Haberlen,Sanjiv J. Shah,Howard N. Hodis,Alan L. Landay,Jason Lazar,Jorge R. Kizer,Bing Yu,Wendy S. Post,Kathryn Anastos,Robert C. Kaplan,Robert C. Kaplan,Clary B. Clish,Qibin Qi +15 more
TL;DR: In two HIV cohorts, plasma levels of most acylcarnitines were not significantly different between HIV-positive and HIV-negative individuals, however, higher levels of aggregated short-chain acylCarnitineines were associated with progression of carotid artery atherosclerosis.
Journal Article
Prevention of coronary atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Feasibility of quantifying change in immune white cells in abdominal adipose tissue in response to an immune modulator in clinical obesity.
Fred R. Sattler,Melissa Mert,Ishwarya Sankaranarayanan,Wendy J. Mack,Lauriane Galle-Treger,Evelyn Gonzalez,Lilit Baronikian,Kyuwan Lee,Pedram Shafiei Jahani,Howard N. Hodis,Christina M. Dieli-Conwright,Omid Akbari +11 more
TL;DR: The study showed that sufficient abdominal AT could be obtained to quantify white cells of both innate and adaptive immunity and to demonstrate changes during therapy with an immune inhibitor, providing indirect validation of a net reduction in inflammation.
Posted ContentDOI
Combined protein and transcript single cell RNA sequencing in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells
Jenifer Vallejo,Ryosuke Saigusa,Rishab Gulati,Yanal Ghosheh,Christopher P. Durant,Payel Roy,Erik Ehinger,Tanyaporn Pattarabanjird,Lindsey E. Padgett,Claire E. Olingy,David B. Hanna,Alan L. McNamara,Lewis L. Lanier,Catherine C. Hedrick,Robert C. Kaplan,Klaus Ley +27 more
TL;DR: In this article, combined protein and transcript scRNA sequencing was used for clinical investigations using peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in the WIHS Study, where 31 participants in the study were living with HIV and 41,611 cells were sequenced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treating serum lipid abnormalities in high-priority patients.
TL;DR: Patients with myocardial, cerebrovascular, or peripheral vascular disease and overall mortality rates can be reduced and atherosclerosis stabilized or reversed by lipid-lowering therapy.
