Cys-Leukotrienes Promote Fibrosis in a Mouse Model of Eosinophil-Mediated Respiratory Inflammation
Sergei I. Ochkur,Cheryl A. Protheroe,Wen Li,Dana Colbert,Katie R. Zellner,Huahao Shen,Andrew D. Luster,Charles G. Irvin,James J. Lee,Nancy A. Lee +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that, similar to allergen challenge models of wild-type mice, cys-leukotrienes underlie AHR in this transgenic model of severe pulmonary Th2 inflammation, and the data suggest that an underappreciated link exists among eosinophils, Cys-Leukotriene-mediated events, and fibrotic remodeling associated with elevated levels of IL-4/-13 and TGF-β.
Journal ArticleDOI
Herbal Medicines for Asthmatic Inflammation: From Basic Researches to Clinical Applications.
TL;DR: Recent advances about the mechanistic studies of herbal medicines on allergic airway inflammation in animal models and their potential application into clinic for asthma control are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Homeostatic and Early Recruited CD101− Eosinophils Suppress Endotoxin-induced Acute Lung Injury
Chen Zhu,Qingyu Weng,Lingren Zhou,Chao Cao,Fei Li,Yinfang Wu,Yanping Wu,Miao Li,Yue Hu,Jiaxin Shen,Xue-Fang Xiong,Fen Lan,Lixia Xia,Bin Zhang,Hao Zhang,Man Huang,Songmin Ying,Huahao Shen,Zhihua Chen,Wen Li +19 more
TL;DR: Findings identify an uncovered function of native CD101− eosinophils in suppressing neutrophilic lung inflammation and suggest a potential therapeutic target for ALI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Airway Epithelial cGAS Is Critical for Induction of Experimental Allergic Airway Inflammation.
Yinling Han,Lin Chen,Huiwen Liu,Zhangchu Jin,Yinfang Wu,Yanping Wu,Wen Li,Songmin Ying,Zhihua Chen,Huahao Shen,Fugui Yan +10 more
TL;DR: The role of airway epithelial cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS), the major sensor of cytosolic dsDNA, in asthma pathogenesis is explored and could serve as a promising therapeutic target against allergic airway inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of respiratory syncytial virus on the activity of matrix metalloproteinase in mice.
Wen Li,Huahao Shen +1 more
TL;DR: RSV infection can increase the activity of gelatinase while up-regulating its inhibitory factors but increase its protein ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 in lung tissues, thereby facilitating fibrosis after structural destruction of the airway.
