Journal ArticleDOI

The relationship between ICU hypotension and in-hospital mortality and morbidity in septic patients.

TL;DR: Risks for mortality, AKI, and myocardial injury were apparent at 85 mmHg, and for mortality and AKI risk progressively worsened at lower thresholds, and Maintaining MAP well above 65 mmHg may be prudent in septic ICU patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peptide entry inhibitors of enveloped viruses: the importance of interfacial hydrophobicity.

TL;DR: It is proposed that an approach that focuses on the interfacial hydrophobicity of putative entry inhibitors could lead to the efficient discovery of novel, broad-spectrum viral entry inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison of herpes simplex virus type 1 and varicella-zoster virus latency and reactivation

TL;DR: There is increasing evidence that HSV-1 and VZV latency is epigenetically regulated, and in vitro models that permit pathway analysis and identification of both epigenetic modulations and global transcriptional mechanisms hold much promise for the future understanding in this complex area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Varicella-Zoster Virus Downregulates Programmed Death Ligand 1 and Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I in Human Brain Vascular Adventitial Fibroblasts, Perineurial Cells, and Lung Fibroblasts

TL;DR: It is provided the first demonstration that VZV downregulates PD-L1 expression in infected HBVAFs, HPNCs, and HFLs, which, together with the noted VzV-mediated downregulation of MHC-I, might foster persistent inflammation in vessels, leading to pathological vascular remodeling during VZv vasculopathy and persistence in infected lungs to promote subsequent infection of T cells and hematogenous virus spread.
