Sabine Lehmann,Fiorella Guadagni,Helen M. Moore,Garry Ashton,Michael R. Barnes,Erica E. Benson,Judith A. Clements,Iren Koppandi,Domenico Coppola,Sara Yasemin Demiroglu,Yvonne DeSouza,Annemieke De Wilde,Jacko Duker,James Eliason,Barbara Glazer,Keith G Harding,Jae Pil Jeon,Joseph Kessler,Theresa J. Kokkat,Umberto Nanni,Kathi Shea,Amy P.N. Skubitz,Stella Somiari,Gunnel Tybring,Elaine W. Gunter,Fotini Betsou +25 more
TL;DR: The first version of the Standard PREanalytical Code (SPREC) was developed in 2009 by the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) Biospecimen Science Working Group to facilitate documentation and communication of the most important preanalytical quality parameters of different types of biospecimens used for research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fay Betsou,Alexandre Bulla,Sang Yun Cho,Judith A. Clements,Rodrigo F. Chuaqui,Domenico Coppola,Yvonne De Souza,Annemieke De Wilde,William E. Grizzle,Fiorella Guadagni,Elaine W. Gunter,Stacey Heil,Verity S. Hodgkinson,Joseph Kessler,Michael Kiehntopf,Hee Sung Kim,Iren Koppandi,Katheryn Shea,Rajeev Singh,Marc Sobel,Stella Somiari,Demetri D. Spyropoulos,Mars Stone,Gunnel Tybring,Klara Valyi-Nagy,Gert Van den Eynden,Lalita Wadhwa +26 more
TL;DR: Quality control (QC) assays that can be performed in order to qualify clinical biospecimens that have been biobanked for use in research are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Biospecimen Proficiency Testing Program for Biobank Accreditation: Four Years of Experience
Amélie Gaignaux,Garry Ashton,Domenico Coppola,Yvonne De Souza,Annemieke De Wilde,James Eliason,William E. Grizzle,Fiorella Guadagni,Elaine W. Gunter,Iren Koppandi,Katheryn Shea,Tim Shi,Julie A. Stein,Mark E. Sobel,Gunnel Tybring,Gert Van den Eynden,Gert Van den Eynden,Fay Betsou +17 more
TL;DR: An international PT program has been developed and provided to biobanks and other laboratories that perform specific tests to qualify different types of biospecimens, and supports the development of biobank quality assurance by providing the possibility to assess biobanking laboratory performance and useful insights into biob bank laboratory method performance characteristics and thus fulfill the demands from accreditation authorities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standard PREanalytical Code Version 3.0
Fay Betsou,Roberto Bilbao,Jamie Case,Rodrigo F. Chuaqui,Judith A. Clements,Yvonne De Souza,Annemieke De Wilde,Jörg Geiger,William E. Grizzle,Fiorella Guadagni,Elaine W. Gunter,Stacey Heil,Michael Kiehntopf,Iren Koppandi,Sabine Lehmann,Loes Linsen,Jacqueline Mackenzie-Dodds,Rocio Aguilar Quesada,Riad Tebbakha,Teresa Selander,Katheryn Shea,Mark E. Sobel,Stella Somiari,Demetri D. Spyropoulos,Mars Stone,Gunnel Tybring,Klara Valyi-Nagy,Lalita Wadhwa +27 more
TL;DR: In this short communication, the SPREC version 3.0 is published and includes more options, based on recent technological developments and on recently acquired knowledge about the critical ranges of preanalytical times, such as tissue ischemia times.
