HerMES: SPIRE Science Demonstration Phase Maps

TL;DR: In this paper, an iterative map-making algorithm (SHIM; The SPIRE-HerMES Iterative Mapper) was implemented to produce high fidelity maps that preserve extended diffuse emission on the sky while exploiting the repeated observations of the same region of the sky with many detectors in multiple scan directions to minimize residual instrument noise.
Journal ArticleDOI

Warm and cold molecular gas conditions modelled in 87 galaxies observed by the Herschel SPIRE Fourier transform spectrometer

TL;DR: In this article, a two-component non-LTE modeling of the CO lines from J = 1-0 through J = 13-12 in 87 galaxies observed by the Herschel SPIRE Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) was conducted.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Design and performance of feedhorn-coupled bolometer arrays for SPIRE

TL;DR: In this article, the design, modeling, and testing of feedhorn arrays coupled to bolometric detector arrays being developed for the ESA Herschel Space Observatory's SPIRE instrument is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

HCO+ Spectropolarimetry and Millimeter Continuum Polarimetry of the DR 21 Star-forming Region* **

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the results of a search for linear polarization in emission lines toward the outflow lobes of DR 21 (HCO+J = 1-0), Mon R2 (H CO+ J = 1 -0), and IRAS 16293-2422 (CS J = 2-1).
