Inferring the mass of submillimetre galaxies by exploiting their gravitational magnification of background galaxies
Hendrik Hildebrandt,L. van Waerbeke,Douglas Scott,Matthieu Béthermin,Matthieu Béthermin,J. J. Bock,J. J. Bock,David L. Clements,A. Conley,Asantha Cooray,Asantha Cooray,James Dunlop,Stephen Anthony Eales,Thomas Erben,Duncan Farrah,Alberto Franceschini,Jason Glenn,Mark Halpern,Sebastien Heinis,Rob Ivison,Rob Ivison,G. Marsden,S. J. Oliver,M. J. Page,Ismael Perez-Fournon,Ismael Perez-Fournon,Anthony J. Smith,Michael Rowan-Robinson,Ivan Valtchanov,R. F. J. van der Burg,Joaquin Vieira,Marco P. Viero,Lian-Tao Wang +32 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the average mass and dust content of sub-millimetre galaxies with 250μm flux densities of S_250 > 15μm were determined using data from the Herschel Multi-tiered Extragalactic Survey.
Journal ArticleDOI
Herschel-SPIRE Imaging Spectroscopy of Molecular Gas in M82
Julia Kamenetzky,Jason Glenn,Naseem Rangwala,P. R. Maloney,M. Bradford,Christine D. Wilson,George J. Bendo,Maarten Baes,Alessandro Boselli,Asantha Cooray,Kate Gudrun Isaak,Vianney Lebouteiller,S. C. Madden,Pasquale Panuzzo,Maximilien R. P. Schirm,L. Spinoglio,Ronin Wu +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a radiative transfer code and Bayesian likelihood analysis to model the temperature, density, column density, and filling factor of multiple components of molecular gas traced by 12CO and 13CO, adding further evidence to the highJ lines tracing a much warmer (~ 500 K), less massive component than the low-J lines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radial distribution of gas and dust in the two spiral galaxies M99 and M100

TL;DR: In this article, the distribution and extent of cool, submillimetre (submm)-emitting dust inside and beyond the optical radius of the Virgo cluster was measured using the Herschel-SPIRE photometer.
Journal ArticleDOI

James A. Schlaerth,Anastasios Vayonakis,Peter K. Day,Jason Glenn,Jiansong Gao,Sunil Golwala,Shwetank Kumar,Henry G. LeDuc,Benjamin A. Mazin,John E. Vaillancourt,Jonas Zmuidzinas +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented results from a demonstration camera using Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (MKIDs) at the Cal-tech Submillimeter Observatory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zeilinger +60 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Herschel-SPIRE observations at 250-500 mu m of the giant elliptical galaxy M 86 and examine the distribution of the resolved cold dust emission and its relation with other galactic tracers.
