TL;DR: Satellite imaging isolated hazard potential for earthquake-triggered landslides after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake in Nepal and provided information to relief and recovery officials as emergency operations were occurring, while supported by one of the largest-ever NASA-led campaigns of responsive satellite data acquisitions over a vast disaster zone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for High-Throughput Phenotyping and Agronomic Research

Baltensperger,Robert V. Avant Jr.,Misty Vidrine,Chenghai Yang +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report on processes and lessons learned from year 1 of a large multidisciplinary project evaluating UAV images across a range of breeding and agronomic research trials on a large research farm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global Land Ice Measurements from Space (GLIMS): Remote Sensing and GIS Investigations of the Earth's Cryosphere
Michael P. Bishop,Jeffrey Olsenholler,John F. Shroder,Roger G. Barry,Bruce Raup,Andrew B. G. Bush,Luke Copland,John L. Dwyer,Andrew G. Fountain,Wilfried Haeberli,Andreas Kääb,Frank Paul,Dorothy K. Hall,Jeffrey S. Kargel,Bruce F. Molnia,Dennis C. Trabant,Rick L. Wessels +16 more
TL;DR: The Global Land-Ice Measurements from Space (GLIMS) project as mentioned in this paper was designed to produce and augment baseline information to facilitate glacier change studies, including the generation of topographic information, anisotropic-reflectance correction of satellite imagery, data fusion and spatial analysis, and GIS-based modeling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geomorphic change in high mountains: a western Himalayan perspective
TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a detailed analysis of the topography at Nanga Parbat in northern Pakistan to demonstrate the utility of geomorphometry and to characterize dramatic geomorphic change over the last 100 ka.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unmanned aerial systems-based remote sensing for monitoring sorghum growth and development.
Sanaz Shafian,Nithya Rajan,Ronnie W. Schnell,Muthukumar V. Bagavathiannan,John Valasek,Yeyin Shi,Jeffrey Olsenholler +6 more
TL;DR: The observed high correlations between UAS-derived NDVI and the crop growth parameters (fc, LAI and grain yield) suggests the applicability of UAS for within-season data collection of agricultural crops such as sorghum.
