Journal ArticleDOI
Randomised comparison of morbidity after D1 and D2 dissection for gastric cancer in 996 Dutch patients
J. J. Bonenkamp,I. Songun,K. Welvaart,C.J.H. van de Velde,Jo Hermans,M. Sasako,JThM Plukker,P. van Elk,Huug Obertop,Dirk J. Gouma,C.W. Taat,J. J. B. van Lanschot,S. Meyer,P. W. de Graaf,M.F. von Meyenfeldt,H. W. Tilanus +15 more
TL;DR: Morbidity and mortality differences persisted in almost all subgroup analyses, and D2 dissection should not be used as standard treatment for western patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of single brain metastasis: Radiotherapy alone or combined with neurosurgery
Charles J. Vecht,H. Haaxma-Reiche,Evert M. Noordijk,George W. Padberg,J. H. C. Voormolen,F. H. Hoekstra,J. T. J. Tans,N. Lambooij,J. A. L. Metsaars,A. R. Wattendorff,Ronald Brand,Jo Hermans +11 more
TL;DR: It is coclude that patients with single brain metastasis and stable extracranial tumor activity should be treated with surgical excision and radiotherapy, and that radiotherapy alone appears to be sufficient.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk assessment for patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia before allogeneic blood or marrow transplantation
Alois Gratwohl,Jo Hermans,JohnM. Goldman,William Arcese,Enric Carreras,Agnès Devergie,Francesco Frassoni,G. Gahrton,Kolb Hj,Dietger Niederwieser,Tapani Ruutu,J P Vernant,T. de Witte,Jane F. Apperley +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple system based on five main factors gives adequate risk assessment for counselling of patients and taking decisions, which is highly predictive for leukaemia-free survival, survival and transplant-related mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
The choice of treatment of single brain metastasis should be based on extracranial tumor-activity and age
Evert M. Noordijk,Charles J. Vecht,H. Haaxma-Reiche,George W. Padberg,J. H. C. Voormolen,F. H. Hoekstra,J. T. J. Tans,N. Lambooij,J. A. L. Metsaars,A. R. Wattendorff,Ronald Brand,Jo Hermans +11 more
TL;DR: For patients with single brain metastasis and with controlled or absent extracranial tumor activity, radiotherapy alone seems to be sufficient and should be considered for patients in a good performance status with surgically unaccessible single metastasis or even with multiple brain metastases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Micrometastases and survival in stage II colorectal cancer.
Gerrit-Jan Liefers,Anne-Marie Cleton-Jansen,van de Velde Cj,Jo Hermans,van Krieken Jh,Cees J. Cornelisse,R.A.E.M. Tollenaar +6 more
TL;DR: Molecular detection of micrometastases is a prognostic tool in stage II colorectal cancer and can be used to identify patients with stage II disease who are at high risk for recurrence.
