Treatment of single brain metastasis: Radiotherapy alone or combined with neurosurgery
Charles J. Vecht,H. Haaxma-Reiche,Evert M. Noordijk,George W. Padberg,J. H. C. Voormolen,F. H. Hoekstra,J. T. J. Tans,N. Lambooij,J. A. L. Metsaars,A. R. Wattendorff,Ronald Brand,Jo Hermans +11 more
TL;DR: It is coclude that patients with single brain metastasis and stable extracranial tumor activity should be treated with surgical excision and radiotherapy, and that radiotherapy alone appears to be sufficient.
Journal ArticleDOI
The choice of treatment of single brain metastasis should be based on extracranial tumor-activity and age
Evert M. Noordijk,Charles J. Vecht,H. Haaxma-Reiche,George W. Padberg,J. H. C. Voormolen,F. H. Hoekstra,J. T. J. Tans,N. Lambooij,J. A. L. Metsaars,A. R. Wattendorff,Ronald Brand,Jo Hermans +11 more
TL;DR: For patients with single brain metastasis and with controlled or absent extracranial tumor activity, radiotherapy alone seems to be sufficient and should be considered for patients in a good performance status with surgically unaccessible single metastasis or even with multiple brain metastases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk score for outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: a retrospective analysis.
Alois Gratwohl,Martin Stern,Ronald Brand,Jane F. Apperley,Helen Baldomero,Theo de Witte,Giorgio Dini,Vanderson Rocha,Jakob Passweg,Anna Sureda,André Tichelli,Dietger Niederwieser,Marrow Transplantation +12 more
TL;DR: The European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation risk score, previously established for chronic myeloid leukemia, could be used to predict outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for hematological disease in general.
Journal ArticleDOI
Allogeneic stem cell transplantation after reduced-intensity conditioning in patients with myelofibrosis: a prospective, multicenter study of the Chronic Leukemia Working Party of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation
Nicolaus Kröger,Ernst Holler,Guido Kobbe,Martin Bornhäuser,Rainer Schwerdtfeger,Herrad Baurmann,Arnon Nagler,Wolfgang Bethge,Matthias Stelljes,Lutz Uharek,Hannes Wandt,Andreas Burchert,Paolo Corradini,Jörg Schubert,Martin Kaufmann,Peter Dreger,Gerald Wulf,Hermann Einsele,Tatjana Zabelina,Hans Michael Kvasnicka,Jürgen Thiele,Ronald Brand,Axel R. Zander,Dietger Niederwieser,Theo de Witte +24 more
TL;DR: A prospective multicenter phase 2 trial to determine efficacy of a busulfan-based reduced-intensity conditioning regimen followed by allogeneic stem cell transplantation from related or unrelated donors found that age older than 55 years and human leukocyte antigen-mismatched donor remained significant factors for survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Total ankle arthroplasty in inflammatory joint disease with use of two mobile-bearing designs.
TL;DR: Mobile-bearing total ankle arthroplasty is a valid treatment option for the rheumatoid ankle if proper indications are used and aseptic loosening and persistent deformity are the most important modes of failure.
