A chromosome conformation capture ordered sequence of the barley genome

Martin Mascher, +81 more
- 27 Apr 2017 -
TL;DR: The importance of the barley reference sequence for breeding is demonstrated by inspecting the genomic partitioning of sequence variation in modern elite germplasm, highlighting regions vulnerable to genetic erosion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Construction of a map-based reference genome sequence for barley, Hordeum vulgare L.

TL;DR: Morex as discussed by the authors was constructed by the International Barley Genome Sequencing Consortium (IBSC) using hierarchical shotgun sequencing, and the experimental and computational procedures to sequence and assemble more than 80,000 bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones along the minimum tiling path of a genome-wide physical map, find and validate overlaps between adjacent BACs, and order and orient these BAC clusters along the seven barley chromosomes using positional information provided by dense genetic maps.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel mutation causing nephronophthisis in the Lewis polycystic kidney rat localises to a conserved RCC1 domain in Nek8

TL;DR: The LPK rat is established as a novel model system for NPHP and the results indicate the whole propeller structure of the RCC1 domain is important, as the different mutations cause comparable phenotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gene-enriched draft genome of the cattle tick Rhipicephalus microplus: assembly by the hybrid Pacific Biosciences/Illumina approach enabled analysis of the highly repetitive genome.

TL;DR: The draft assembly of a tick genome that utilized a hybrid sequencing and assembly approach to capture the repetitive fractions of the genome and the finding of a novel cytochrome P450 CYP41 homolog that shows similar protein folding structures to known CYP 41 proteins known to be involved in acaricide resistance is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

The mitochondrial genome of a Texas outbreak strain of the cattle tick, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, derived from whole genome sequencing Pacific Biosciences and Illumina reads.

TL;DR: This study assembled the complete R. microplus mitochondrial genome from Illumina and Pac Bio sequencing reads obtained from the ongoing R.microplus (Deutsch strain from Texas, USA) genome sequencing project and compared the Deutsch strainMitogenome to the mitogenome from a Brazilian R.Microplus and from an Australian cattle tick that has recently been taxonomically designated as Rhipicephalus australis.
