Journal ArticleDOI
Ecological character displacement: glass half full or half empty?
Yoel E. Stuart,Jonathan B. Losos +1 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the rise in esteem of ECD has outpaced available data and that more complete, rather than simply more, case studies are needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolutionary stasis and lability in thermal physiology in a group of tropical lizards
Martha M. Muñoz,Maureen A. Stimola,Adam C. Algar,Asa E. Conover,Anthony J. Rodriguez,Miguel A. Landestoy,George S. Bakken,Jonathan B. Losos +7 more
TL;DR: It is found that cold tolerance evolves considerably faster than heat tolerance, a difference that results because behavioural thermoregulation more effectively shields these organisms from selection on upper than lower temperature tolerances.
Journal ArticleDOI
The relationship between morphology, escape behaviour and microhabitat occupation in the lizard clade Liolaemus (Iguanidae: Tropidurinae*: Liolaemini)
TL;DR: Behavioural strategies used by these lizards in open habitats appear to have made unnecessary the evolution of limb morphology that has occurred in other lizards from other clades that are found in open settings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cautionary comments on the measurement of maximum locomotor capabilities
TL;DR: Using the study of maximum sprint speed in lizards as an example, common problems in methodology that may confound interpretation of performance studies are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Verrelli,Andrew Whitehead,Kristin M. Winchell,Kristin M. Winchell,Marc T. J. Johnson +27 more
TL;DR: This Perspective article provides a research agenda and roadmap for future research aimed at advancing the understanding of the interplay between ecology and evolution of urban‐dwelling organisms and identifies six key questions that would significantly increase understanding of how urbanization influences evolutionary processes.
