Journal ArticleDOI

Structural basis of LhcbM5-mediated state transitions in green algae.

TL;DR: In this paper, high-resolution structures of PSI-LHCI−LHCII from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were reported, revealing the mechanism of assembly between the PSI and two phosphorylated LHCII trimers containing all four types of LhcbM protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Loss of inhibition by formate in newly constructed photosystem II D1 mutants, D1-R257E and D1-R257M, of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

TL;DR: D1-R257 with the positively charged side chain is important for the fully normal functioning of PSII and of growth, and is specially critical for the in vivo binding of formate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural determination of the large photosystem II-light-harvesting complex II supercomplex of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii using nonionic amphipol.

TL;DR: It is found that the interprotein distances within the light-harvesting complex array in the green algal photosystem are larger than those previously observed in higher plants, indicating that the potential route of energy transfer in the PSII–LHCII supercomplex in green algae may be altered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Algal photoprotection is regulated by the E3 ligase CUL4-DDB1 DET1

TL;DR: A photoprotective role for the putative E3 ubiquitin ligase CUL4–DDB1DET1 in unicellular photosynthetic organisms that may mediate blue-light signals to LH CSR1 and LHCSR3 gene expression is suggested.
