Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial dysfunction-related lipid changes occur in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progression
Kang-Yu Peng,Kang-Yu Peng,Matthew J. Watt,Sander S. Rensen,Jan Greve,Kevin Huynh,Kaushala S. Jayawardana,Peter J. Meikle,Peter J. Meikle,Ruth C. R. Meex +9 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that increased levels of cardiolipin and ubiquinone may help to preserve mitochondrial function in early NAFLD, but that mitochondrial function eventually fails with progression to NASH, leading to increased acylcarnitine.
Journal ArticleDOI
An integrative systems genetic analysis of mammalian lipid metabolism
Benjamin L. Parker,Anna C. Calkin,Anna C. Calkin,Marcus M. Seldin,Michael F. Keating,Michael F. Keating,Elizabeth J. Tarling,Pengyi Yang,Sarah C. Moody,Yingying Liu,Eser J. Zerenturk,Elise J. Needham,Matthew L. Miller,Bethan L. Clifford,Pauline Morand,Matthew J. Watt,Ruth C. R. Meex,Kang-Yu Peng,Richard T. Lee,Kaushala S. Jayawardana,Calvin Pan,Natalie A. Mellett,Jacquelyn M. Weir,Ross Lazarus,Aldons J. Lusis,Peter J. Meikle,David E. James,Thomas Q. de Aguiar Vallim,Brian G. Drew,Brian G. Drew +29 more
TL;DR: This study interrogated lipid regulatory networks in 107 genetically distinct mouse strains to reveal key insights into the control and network structure of mammalian lipid metabolism, leading to the identification and validation of PSMD9 as a previously unknown lipid regulatory protein.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resveratrol exerts anti-obesity effects in high-fat diet obese mice and displays differential dosage effects on cytotoxicity, differentiation, and lipolysis in 3T3-L1 cells.
TL;DR: It is suggested that resveratrol possessed anti-obesity effects by induction of cytotoxicity at high dosage and that it influences preadipocyte differentiation and mature adipocyte lipolysis at low concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amphiphilic diblock copolymers based on poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline) and poly(4‐substituted‐ε‐caprolactone): Synthesis, characterization, and cellular uptake
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlating Digestion-Driven Self-Assembly in Milk and Infant Formulas with Changes in Lipid Composition.
Anna C. Pham,Kang-Yu Peng,Malinda Salim,Gisela Ramirez,Adrian Hawley,Andrew J. Clulow,Ben J. Boyd +6 more
TL;DR: The self-assembly phenomenon provides a powerful discriminator between different classes of nutrition and a roadmap for the design of human milklike systems and is anticipated to have important implications for nutrient transport and the delivery of bioactives.
