Journal ArticleDOI
Ocular manifestations of graft-v-host disease.
TL;DR: Findings reveal a disease process of keratoconjunctivitis that appears to represent a specific pathologic eye syndrome in which the conjunctivae and occasionally the cornea represent an immunologic target of graft-v-host disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Marrow transplantation for severe aplastic anemia. Long-term outcome in fifty "untransfused" patients.
Claudio Anasetti,Kristine Doney,R Storb,Joel D. Meyers,Vernon T. Farewell,Buckner Cd,F R Appelbaum,Keith M. Sullivan,Clift Ra,Deeg Hj +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that patients with severe aplastic anemia who have transplants before the onset of transfusion-induced sensitization have an excellent probability of long-term survival and a normal life.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decreased incidence of marrow graft rejection in patients with severe aplastic anemia: changing impact of risk factors.
Deeg Hj,Steven G. Self,Rainer Storb,Kristine Doney,F R Appelbaum,Robert P. Witherspoon,Keith M. Sullivan,Karen Sheehan,Jean E. Sanders,Eric Mickelson +9 more
TL;DR: Patients with severe aplastic anemia were conditioned with cyclophosphamide and given marrow grafts from HLA-identical family members and showed a lower likelihood of graft rejection than patients transplanted in earlier years, showing that the largest possible number of marrow cells should be transplanted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence, risk factors, and mortality from pneumonia developing late after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Chien-Shing Chen,Michael Boeckh,Kristy Seidel,Joan G. Clark,Emin Kansu,David K. Madtes,John L. Wagner,John L. Wagner,Robert P. Witherspoon,Claudio Anasetti,F R Appelbaum,William I. Bensinger,Deeg Hj,Paul J. Martin,Jean E. Sanders,R Storb,Jan Storek,James C. Wade,James C. Wade,M. Siadak,Mary E.D. Flowers,Keith M. Sullivan +21 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that extension of PCP prophylaxis may be beneficial in high-risk autograft recipients and further study of long-term anti-infective proPHylaxis based on patient risk factors after SCT appear warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Previous donor pregnancy as a risk factor for acute graft-versus-host disease in patients with aplastic anaemia treated by allogeneic marrow transplantation.
Mary E.D. Flowers,Margaret S. Pepe,Gary Longton,Kristine Doney,Deborah Monroe,Robert P. Witherspoon,Keith M. Sullivan,Rainer Storb +7 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that prior donor pregnancy represents an important factor in selecting marrow donors or designing clinical protocols for GVHD prophylaxis and was significantly increased among patients receiving marrow from parous females as compared to those from nulliparous females.
